Sounds like something Ryan might have come up with. He was interested in the Mala'anje (Melange and other spelings), the First Nation (to borrow a Canadian term) of the Cyber-Island chain. He might have influenced the name of an island to give them a presence.
(Yours truly bears the title "King of the Mala'anje", but it has become an honorific.)
If he pops up somewhere, let's inquire.
