Pre-Landsraad: Bill: The website, ShireWiki and its scope
Bill: The website, ShireWiki and its contents
0. This bill amends LawBook chapter V section B, "Ministry of Information", and adds a new section to chapter VII, "Website".
1. Chapter V section B, subsection 2, subsubsection C shall be stricken and replaced with:
"It is the duty of the Minister of Information to maintain the accuracy of the information on the Shireroth website."
2. The following section will be added under the name "Website" and the next available number, in Chapter VII:
"1. The website of Shireroth shall be called ShireWiki. It shall be implemented by means of MediaWiki or other available Wiki software.
2. ShireWiki shall be the front page of shireroth.org.
3. Every denizen may edit ShireWiki, pursuant to the following restrictions:
3.1. Denizens shall not knowingly publish false information on ShireWiki, unless it is necessary for the implementation of an evil scheme.
3.2. Denizens shall not publish on ShireWiki defamatory, pornographic, libelous, fraudulent or any other kind of material that would land us into legal trouble.
4. The scope of ShireWiki shall be Shirithian affairs. ShireWiki pages not related to Shireroth shall be submitted to MicroWiki, hosted by micronations.net, and removed from ShireWiki by any denizen.
4.1. The submission of information to MicroWiki shall be conducted by the rules and guidelines of MicroWiki. Information that already exists on MicroWiki need not be duplicated and can be directly removed from ShireWiki."
Any thoughts before this goes to Landsraad tomorrow-ish?

Sounds good to me.
Can you make sure that when the ShireWiki is moved to shireroth.org, the old website is archived on the website? Like http://www.shireroth.org/oldsite/ is at the moment. Yeah, I know, you're probably thinking "Who does this guy think I am", but its best to make sure.

There is never anything wrong with backups..
I think this plan has merit, it's at least worth a shot.. cause the current set up isn't working...

I don't agree, the present pages can be hold as an 'backup'.4. The scope of ShireWiki shall be Shirithian affairs. ShireWiki pages not related to Shireroth shall be submitted to MicroWiki, hosted by micronations.net, and removed from ShireWiki by any denizen.

From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

Re: Pre-Landsraad: Bill: The website, ShireWiki and its scope
I like Ari's idea of removing the pages; let's get it cleaned up and single-purpose.
I also suggest that the Lawbook in the Wiki become the official version. An admin can set the privileges so only the Praetor can edit it. That would make it more prominent, easier to edit, and solve some of the formatting issues (wiki pages are easy to format and index).

Re: Pre-Landsraad: Bill: The website, ShireWiki and its scope
This is a valid concern... I'll make a database backup of our wiki. However, we shouldn't need to feel concerned about backing up the MNN wiki. I'm sure they can host and maintain it by themselves. Even in the extremely unlikely case that they went and lost their data (and their own backups), we just don't have the manpower to keep our non-Shirithian content up to date and spamfree, so the content we'd have even if we did keep the data in our wiki wouldn't be so useful to them that we shoudl take the trouble to keep it online.Jonas wrote:I don't agree, the present pages can be hold as an 'backup'.
(btw, page deletion doesn't actually exist in MediaWiki. Every deleted page will technically still be there on the server, it's just that they will only be visible to administrators. Still... backups are good...)
Also, since I see no other concerns, I put this bill to vote.

Scott we already have a bill on the floor to use the version on the wiki of the Lawbook.

Erik - I thought that bill was just to assume the text of the wiki version was the official text. I didn't know it was also going to make the wiki format the official format.
