New icons
OK, I'm working on some Shirithian-ish icons to replace the phpBB-y ones. Comments/critique here, please.
First off: The email icon bears the mark of the email service provided by Google, the Bringer of Knowledge, the bearer of the Sword of a Billion Truths, Patron of True Seekers, and Provider of Many Other Nifty Things. May his Cease-and-desist letters never befall upon us for this action. I'm feeling lucky!

Re: New icons
The PM icon is a fax machine, to honor Fax, the God of Communication, Patron of fax machines, etc. etc..

Re: New icons
The icon for edit bears a moose along a hypotenuse, to honor Hypotomoose, the Moose-Demigod of Miscalculations, the cause of many occasions where one has to edit a post.

Re: New icons
The icon for quoting is marked with the holy markup-sigil of Tex, God of Documents and Writing, who surely is present in any discussion where people quote others.

Re: New icons
I couldn't think of any religious symbolism for the profile icon, so now it's a fish. Maybe it's even Fish, the Demigod of Goldfish, one of the Fish of Balgurd, though I don't quite understand why the thought of that is making me feel so hungry.

Re: New icons
Maybe.
The icon for online honors Viviantia, the Goddess of Life, by incorporating a version of the Sefirot, or the Tree of Life, although I doubt even Scott could identify it. Ah well. Maybe someone should come up with an icon for Viviantia?

Re: New icons
As a celebration of the holy marriage of Mors and Viviantia, the icon for offline users is a scythe, the symbol of death.

Re: New icons
And finally, to honor Frank T. Dugford, the Demigod of Canned Fruit, the icon for closed threads or forums is now a can of fruit (with a mango on it if there have been posts on that thread or forum).
I think I'm done creating icons for tonight.
<- Google
<- Fax
<- Hypotomoose
<- Tex
<- Fish
<- Viviantia
<- Mors
<- Frank T. Dugford
<- Frank T. Dugford again

Very good work!

Re: New icons
*dissents!* (*knows how painful this is, though*) I can barely read those buttons! Cursive-decorative red text on textured blue = ow! ow! ow! Did I mention ow?!
*expects to be smitten now*
(I love the icons you picked out to denote the functions, though - very cool!)

Re: New icons
This... needs to be fixed! Any ideas on a new colour scheme, or should I create another style with the original subsilver icons?

Re: New icons
Yeah, but different people have different eyes and different monitors. Since the icons seem alright to me, I can't really be the judge of what kind of icons would look good on Neike's monitor.
Anyway, for what it's worth, two new icons in the current style:
<- AIM is represented by a Golden Apple, because I had to put in an Eris reference in there *somewhere*. Besides, it clashes nicely with the fact that AIM is basically *the* traditional IM network used by Shirithians, and CLASHING WITH TRADITION IS WHAT ERIS WANTS! *ahem*
<- the icon for MSN honours Bob, the Demigod of Underused Names, and Microsoft's earlier admirable attempts to spread the gospel of Bob.
Aaand... hm... I was thinking of Señor Mysterioso for the WWW icon, but I can't find anything on the web that still looks like a cat when it's been shrunk to 19x19...

Re: New icons
Very nice icons. It's great to see a nation actually put effort into their own design rather than just ripping off existing ones!

Re: New icons
You were right, Neike. I updated all of the icons with a black flare around the lettering (now you're thinking with layers), the icons look a lot cleaner, neater and easier to read now
