I have an old copy of it that James gave me... the database that is.. but I don't know what do to do with it.. nor how to get the wiki back up and running again.... anyone know? I stole the stuff that was on the old site itself and put it back again.. but the MySQL databases are gone... and I don't know how to rebuild them...

My solution is to reinstall the wiki... the latest version and set the server to PHP5... might as well...

And the MySQL manager hates me....

Are you not able to make a database? Cause other than entering the name of the database in it looks good to go.

I tracked down a copy of the old wiki logo. It's up at http://www.raikoth.net/Pictures/Random/wikilogo.PNG . Set the config file there when you get time.

the technical issues are resolved... we just need to get it updated again.... a long process...

There were three huge spam articles - drug access & such. Erik had erased them, and somebody put them back------

I deleted the text again.

MNN has gone so far as to insist on a log-in to edit & post. This may violate the spirit of the thing, but their spam has dropped off.

All of these appear to be a more sophisticated 'bot, or maybe a poorly paid 3rd world person.

They all post the same, large, innoucous article (I think about the Oxford English Dictionary) and fill it with ads, some in Chinese.

MNN has banned them. I erased what I could.

Well, since not much was happening with your wiki, I took it on myself to fill some holes.

I went to the "Pages wanted". If a page showed 4 links or more, I copied it from MNN. I did not edit these pages, except the occasional spelling correction.

This included some templates, a bunch of "Kaiser" articles, and whatever else called for 4 links.

I'm sure I missed a few. Most articles are marked "Copied from MNN". Some of these I am sure had their origins in Shireroth before the wiiki meltdown.

Please accept this gift as a gesture of friendship from the Federal Republic of Cyberia, and from yours truly.
