Cluttered mess..

Post by Erik Mortis »

I've been trying to get my mind wrapped around what we have now...

with counties.. and duchies... and old laws.. and missing laws.. and broken links.. and lacking peoples.... What a cluttered mess we have...

It's daunting really, trying to restore my understanding of what we have and stuff...

We need to simplify... I'm half temped to say we disband all law concerning subdivisions and ministries.. And just start with the Charter.. and build from there...

At the same time.. I suspect we may have already done that...

We have 3 Duchies.. good.. with three Dukes.. good... (or a Dutch in the case of Kildare) But who can vote? And what Baronies do we have?

I kinda miss the old system.. only Dukes vote... and 1 vote each.. but the 10 and distribute system wasn't so bad.. but we seem to just have a muddled mix of systems now, all hald implemented.. with counties... and stuff...

We set all the territories in stone.. and now we are a mess.

...I have an idea....

4 Duchies... (yes... I won't lie. I just want brookshire back.. with me as Duke..hehehe)
Each duchy gets 10 votes.
Each duke is also allowed to bestow the title of Baron onto 2 counts in the duchy, who they can give votes too.
Barons can speak in the Landsraad, and vote if granted some by their duke.

Baronies would no longer be about territories, and who they can get to join.

At the same time.. I liked the old system of Duchies had to have 3 people min, and a Barony needed 2 people min... but can we support that... I need a head count before I devise plans.. and I need to figure out what we have already... I heard we went back to the old system... but I'm not sure... It looks like we changed systems a few times, but didn't clean up the previous system before moving on to the next...

So far we have Elwynn under Ric Lyon, aka Andelarion; Yardistan under Gman Russell; and Kildare under Duchess Hypatia Agnesi, also our present, if missing, Kaiseress. A current copy of the lawbook seems to be on her computer. I don't know about the Imperial Decrees or the Wiki. We have an uncertainty regarding barons and counts, as well as the number of active citizens.

As to the forum, it is a mess. The people who had admin. power seem to have disappeared, and no one seems to have passwords to the boards. We need to clean it up, archive most of the old threads, and start clean. I think we may need to query any old timers to see what they have in their personal computers and try to reconstruct what we can to educate newbies about our great and glorious past, including the role you have played in the creation and structure, as well as the directing and ruling of, this nation. We may need to revamp the whole thing.

Our current Praetor has disappeared, with a new one needing to be voted on. As far as I know the Landsraad has not convened in far too long to take care of any needed business. Several countries have requested diplomatic relations with Shireroth, and are still waiting.

We seem to have lost our fictional history, so the new citizens don't know how things in Shirereoth are arranged, and where things have come from. Most of the old timers have either left micronations altogether or at least have left Shireroth, so much of the old spark is gone.

Mostly, I think we need a direction. This responding to non-vital posts with reactive posts will not rebuild Shireroth. Reactivating online action will, I think, do more than many other things to make Shireroth a vital entity again.

I think we did revoke the whole New Feudalism thing and return to something like what you suggested at some point. Can't remember why I think that. As for the old ways, they're good but we proly don't have enough people for it now. Maybe three Duchies instead of four would be better.

Tell Renee to name you Kaiser and then I'll feel motivated enough to develop more of an opinion.

Because you're the only one seriously trying to rebuild the country right now, and you probably won't have the power to do it properly unless you become Kaiser.

I know I wouild personally like to see you as Kaiser again, and I believe you would have little opposition with the present citizenry.

NO, you can't become Kaiser! I mean... yes, you are the perfect person that can take that position.
From a distance I'm concerned about the rampant lawyerism manifesting itself in Shireroth currently. A simple Kaiserial slap on the wrist or censure by the community should suffice. - Jacobus Loki

You know that I don't agree with you politically on practically anything. You also know that I think it's usually better for you to let other people be Kaiser when they can so that we get some different people and different ideas.

But right now we need you and you're the only man for the job.
