Calling All Dukes

Post by Kaiseress Carol »

All Dukes of Shireroth are hereby called to a planning council in the royal palace. We need to establish a new path now that the ancient duchies have been reestablished along the historic feudal lines. Please bring your ideas for your duchy to our meeting, which will restart our country's historically vibrant culture.

Milady,

I have a few ideas.

First of all we need to be seen. We should get a minister of the exterior to go around micronations, and represent Shireroth abroad. He or she would negotiate treaties with various nations and so on. The Kaiseress, you milady, could do the same, go visiting nations (state visits).

I also think we should abolish the multiple citizenship ban. That law was conceived when Shireroth felt that its own citizens should remain active in Shireroth (the thesis being "the more citizenships you have, the less you'll be active in Shireroth). But now, no one is active here. So we need all the activity we can get.

The office of the Kaiseress should, however, only be open to citizens solely of Shireroth.

We should encourage cultural activity in the various subdivisions as well as nationally. Perhaps we could write a story together (role play) or let people do what they want in their duchies, baronies and counties.

The Landsraad needs activity. Perhaps we should reform the Lawbook totally and go to a more traditional style of lawmaking: get ourselves a written constitution (amendments could be passed through referendums - a way to activate the commoners) and then pass acts that are constitutional.

Just a few ideas...

I would certainly be open to all those suggestions. As it is, several of our citizens already have multiple citizenships. I agree the Kaiser (and also the Steward) should have citizenship only in Shireroth, but other than that I see no problem with it.

Also, Ric, I need to speak to you on IM. I will be at my computer quite a bit for the next couple of days while I recover from a minor illness. The countries north or Kildare, Norona and Landinberg, have an interesting proposal for a tri-state venture that I would like to persue. Please contact me as soon as possible. Thanks.

How would I contact you?

My MSN Messenger is andelarion (at) hotmail (dot) com, and my AIM is "iamrhic" (a rather stupid screenname, I know). I'm not usually on AIM, but for you I'll make an exception and will try and contact you there, if only I knew your handle.

If that's not possible then you can always email me on my hotmail account or send me a PM here at these forums.

- Ric.

Ric--

You can contact me at Hypatiasmom. I am home most of the time and on the computer frequently. However, the little doorbell that used to notify med of someone trying to reach me has failed, so I need to be looking at my computer to know you are calling. I'm sure wed can connect, however. Thanks.

*steps into the room meekly*

Your Majesty, I wish for you and my Dukes to let me know what is to become of me and my once thriving Barony.

I was fully capable of becoming a Duchy on numerous cases but withheld becuase I wished for my title to be robust and firm with at least six counties underneath me and a thriving citizenry. perhaps is hould have seized the opportunity?

Now i stand an unsure Baron, standing grasping at the few counties and counts i have left. wondering if i will still even be a Baron, why the least clothed of my counties was taken from me, and lamenting the fact that my two core counties have been placed in the last duchy i would have chosen to bind myself too.

I understand that the people of Shireroth are only second to your Majesty, and your word is law, so if this is what you truly wish i shall obey. but know in my heart this is not what i wished or foresaw, and i did vote nay to the law.

What should I do?

Humbly, as always, your servant,

By my h47!

My dear Baron--

I fully appreciate your predicament. I have, however, been unable to raise a timely comment from you, either on the Shireroth boards or on AIM. Because of this factor, and an almost non-existent posting level, it became necessary to make a decision which included those more active people as dukes. It may still be possible to adjust things to allow you to become a duke. I need to assess how many people we actually have who are still around and able to contribute to each duchy. Please let me know, for example, if Kap'n Knappy is still around and willing to be a vital member, and anyone else who was in your barony. Each person is important, but zie must know that their contributions should be made on a regular, and more frequent, basis. I will speak to the other dukes about this as well.

I apologize for establishing things as they are without your input, but I was unable to receive it.
