A New Praetor

[Kaiseress Carol]

*In the outer court of the royal palace, trumpets blare, calling all to attention. The royal herald steps forward to the balcony, opens a parchment scroll and reads, "Hear ye, hear ye. By order of Her Majesty Kaiseress Carol, all are to enter so that proper respect may be paid to our new minister. Wolvin is to be installed as Praetor. Please enter the gates and attend."

The crowd streams in, with a young Wolvin at its head. They enter the throne room and bow.

"You may all rise. Wolvin, please step forward. This is an auspiscious time for Shireroth. You have come to us in an hour of need, with imagination, courage and hard-won knowlege of our government. You are now our new Praetor, and will soon, I hope recall the Landsraad to session to enact those changes so needed here in Shireroth. Here is the emblem of your office." The Kaiseress places around Wolvin's neck an elaborate medal of the office of Praetor on a wide satin sash. He dips his head in respect and steps back. The crowd murmurs its approval, then cheers. The Kaiseress then dismisses the crowd with a smile. "Thank you all for coming. I know the new changes will greatly strengthen our dear country. And thank you, Wolvin, for volunteering to wield such an office in a time such as this.*

*Hands Wolvin a small metal sphere with a burning fuse going into it.

The fuse goes all the way in in a breath and nothing happens for a moment.

Then the sphere morphs into a mechanical bird which hops out of Wovins hands, warbles the National Anthem as it flights about, then in the end

BOOM!!!

a small cloud of sparks and metalic feathers wafts to the ground.
