National Candy a Flop
Sorry, everyone.
I made up some Shirebars for the ShireCon, using melted chocolate, mango butter, grannola, and nuts, and refrigerating them, and no one, including myself, liked them. The texture was strange, and the flavor combination even stranger. We'll have to come up with another idea instead, unless you just want to have a fictitious "Shirebar" just for the name and idea.
We did, however, come across a version of toffee-flavored popcorn with dark or milk chocolate-covered pecans and almonds, from a company called Harry and David's (they're the ones from whom you can order fancy boxed fruit and nuts, sent monthly, for a very high price). This popcorn snack is called Moose Munch, comes in a blue box, and has a picture of a moose on the front.
So, there you have it: two contenders for national candy. Perhaps we should vote, or would someone like to propose a different candidate?

So, we will have to find another candidate for national candy, unless you just want to go with a fictitious "Shirebar" just for the name and idea.

Maybe it can be a running joke that our national candy is a little on the disgusting-things-that-my-aunt-keeps-in-her-candy-dish side?

You know, that just might work. It is one of those things people tasted to be polite, and then politely declined another piece.
