Involuntary LOA
Well, it appears that I'm going to be unable to use the Internet at home for a while. Some of you know that I have dialup there, so by today's standards my connection is slow anyway; but for the last week or so, the average connection speed has been getting slower. And slower. And SLOWER. Now, this has happened before, but normally only for a day or so, and never quite this severely. But this time, it seems that it's more serious... when one's connection is at 4 or 5k, one loses the ability to do anything useful online, when one can connect at all.
What seems to be going on is that there's a problem with the physical phone lines near my house; the problem, whatever it is, is also affecting non-Internet phone service. I'm posting from the library right now, but I'm not going to be able to do this very often. And my dad said no one's coming to look at the phone lines till Friday. Blech.
So, effectively, I'm on LOA until further notice. I'll pop in through the library when I can.

Are you positive you're back? My hunch is you haven't been around for at least the whole last month. Or perhaps, more precisely, the last month and three days. Whether you were gone before that timespan started, I cannot say for sure, lacking evidence.Shyriath wrote:Whew, back.
Sorry for the non-member intrusion, but admittedly, I'm somewhat hoping a not so random passerby can tell me where I can find Shyriath.
I'm trying to stalk him. :P *waits to see how literal people take her*
Nice place, by the way. I've been half tempted to resurrect Dark Arcadia as a micronation for the past month of my (until now) patient lurking.
...
So...
How much do I get smitten for trespassing?

Sounds fair. Do you have any in magenta?Gman Russell wrote:10 lashes with a wet noodle of your choosing.
I used to roleplay with him. He knows me mainly as Natzeth, or Natze (though latter sounds horrible). I know him as Shyria(th). Oh, and Zadire(th). Way cool. Er, and of course, you have no clue what I'm on about. Has he ever mentioned Avishraa? ...lo-o-ong ago, maybe?Gman Russell wrote:Why Shyriath?
I don't know.Gman Russell wrote:Do I know you from somewhere...

You wouldn't happen to have a disposable camera I can use? :-Phypatias mom wrote:Don't listen to Greg--we love tourists here.
I feared that. I hope he's not got ISP troubles - again. That would be shitty timing: Just when I go "Boo! Missed me?" his internet craps out and the whole suddenness of the plan is foiled. Entirely. *pout and lip tremble*hypatias mom wrote:Right now, things are a bit slow, and we haven't seen Shyriath in far too long.
Thank you. I may get back to you on that.hypatias mom wrote:Please keep lurking, post occasionally, and perhaps join Shireroth.
Um.
After August.
Exams.
Edit: I changed a word. If you didn't notice what, it's good. Otherwise, I suck.

Gracias! I doubt they will, given my motivation has hit a philosophical nadir (for a multitude of unrelated reasons), but at least they'll be over by end of August. Temporarily over, at the very least.hypatias mom wrote:Yes, exams seem to be a major reason for low activity. Thankfully, I'm no longer a slave to studying. Hope you come often, and that your exams go well.
Well, violet's better than, shall we say, rose, and magenta and violet share their non-existance in the colour spectrum - thus, works for me.Gman Russell wrote:Sorry, just violet. My bad.
I believe Avishraa was current around '99, '00. Possibly before that, I only stumbled across it rather late.Gman Russell wrote:I believe I heard him mention that once a LOOOOOOONG time ago, but I dont know you specificly.
<the long story>
I was fairly enchanted by what Shyriath had made up with Avishraa, so I wanted a part of it, and asked him if he'd let me make a Davir Sria family. (Hm. I think I just butchered that word) He said yes, so I made Natzeth, one of her parents being Amnoth, who also got a player... but admittedly, I never did get to play her much in Avishraan context. She ended up on another world (compared to where Shyriath was) and was somewhat bastardized there. I guess Shyriath's character would say she ended up somewhat Kaean. (Again, butchering of words)
</the long story>
Admittedly, since Shyriath is one of the best roleplayers I've ever known, I have to say I'd love to steal him for such purposes. Text roleplaying is becoming popular, and it's hard to find people who are actually good at it these days.
But if I can just talk to him again, that's my goal attained right there, anything else is a bonus.
Thank you. Well, actually, I have to wonder if I still fit the criteria for cool after my indulgance in nostalgia up there, so instead, here's some PHP to express my thoughts:Gman Russell wrote:Aw well, you seem cool enough.
Code: Select all
if (is_cool(pinkgothic)) {
echo thank_you();
}But I trespassed. I want to be treated like every other trespasser, damnit.Gman Russell wrote:I shall spare you for now...

Damn you, Shireroth. I was supposed to learn for my next exam. Instead, I (re)made myself a micronation. *shakes fist* Now let's see how long it lasts.pinkgothic wrote:Nice place, by the way. *just rediscovered her Avishraan character's full name - peers, tries to translate* "Nateh-Zeth Azhratha/Lahana, Sriatha Azhratha Natzeth Azhratha Natzetha avi'Haenthia tel'Amnotha sya'Basteta sya'Sanaanatha."
She with the formal name of Nateh-Zeth Azhratha, who is a Davir Sria of the Azhratha (blue) line, called Natzeth of the Azhratha family, [something or other], who's mother is Haenthi, and who's father is Amnoth, who's first daughter is Bastet and who's second daughter is Sanaanath.
Whoah. This makes my head spin. It's almost as bad as a Kaiser title hereabouts! And I bet I mucked some stuff up...
