Imperial Decree #244 - Desperate Measures

Post by Kaiser Meskan II »

Right. Our nation needs some reforms here.

First of all, in my previous decree, Decree #235, I had removed the Minorcy period from my reign. The Minorcy period is hereby permanently removed from Shireroth. This is just very unneccessary, especially right now. We need new citizens, not frustrate them.

Second of all, I know that it will make you some of you guys angry, and seems very hypocrtical after the coup incident, but for the future, until we can get more active, the Landsraad shall be a direct democracy - all counts will be able to vote and speak in the Landsraad, and recieve one vote. Currently we have like no active nobles anyway, and it shall be an incentive for the new citizens for some activity.
By my hand,
His Niftiness, Meskan, Second of the Name, Kaiser of Shireroth, Overlord of the Duchies of Kildare, Naudia’Diva, and Northold, Overlord of the Baronies of Elwynn and Vorpmadal, Thane of the Shirelands, Keeper of the Apollo Legacy, Grand Master of the Orders of the Dragon, Griffin, Phoenix, and Chimera, Wielder of Vengeance, Count of Shirekeep, Knight Companion of the Most Magnificent Imperial Order of the Sovereign Viking Crown, and Lord of the Golden Mango Throne.

Tyrant shmyrant. This doesn't mean that I believe that we should be a parlimentary monarchy ala Britain, or that we should have a bill of rights, or become an Antica clone. :p

You know what? This is good. I support this. I initially typed up a hatefull post that was going to blast you and this reform, but that was just a knee-jerk reaction from an old elder scared of change. This gives newbies the chance to stand up and be counted in a better way, AND it makes sure the elders like Scott, Nick, I, and others stay active. If we cant make it, then the newbies inherit the nation and we would have to bite our tongues.

Bill.

Genious.

Baldwin, I apologies for that. As I said, it was a knee-jerk thing. I have since changed opinions. Good for you. *hug*

Baldwin--

I thought most of your innovations were fine. The only problem I saw was the power grab. That's where you crossed the line. Next time, try to ask about becoming Kaiser. I think you would make a fine one in reality.

I think I found a problem. I was continueing to read the law tonight. And I saw this decree; remembering two different passages, I did some checking.

The Charter says that only Nobles can vote and be members of the Landsraad. And the laws in the 'Lawbook', as listed in the Wiki, say that Counts are not recognized nobles.

As such, does not this create a contradiction between this decree and the law. And from what I read, the Kaiser may not violate the Charter. And as this decree does not, in law, change the status of the position of 'Count' to a recognized noble title, a contradiction and a violation has been created.

Am I correct? I am still new to these laws.

The Lawbook is not the Charter. The Kaiser can change it at will.

Still, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps. But as I read it does it not say that the Kaiser is bound by his own decrees. And the green is the past decree of the Kaisers. And is standing law. And this decree made no change, recorded, to standing law on the point of the status of Counts as recognizeed nobles of the land. As such, a contradiction is created, and a violation.

If, the Kaiser had decreed that Counts be recognized as nobles, and not just titles of status, then, this would not be an issue.
