Real Money
In the past I have brought up several discussions about minting our own money, or money of a micronational sort. This was discussed again this Spring between me, Scott and Chris at the Albany conference.
I also mentioned that I was getting a smithing forge from my grandmother's old farm. I have it now, though no where to put it and it's in storage until I can build something to set it up in. But that's another story...
I've been doing a restoration project on some antique lawn decorations made of concrete. The originals were badly fractured and I have been rebuilding and sculpting them using Quickrete patch. Musing around with some leftover patch I made a pancake of the mixture, smoothed it, and cut out a circular spot ala cookie dough. The result? A silver dollar-sized concrete coin.
Dipping them in heavy-duty concrete paint I used for the restoration project, I now have three coins. The next step, obviously, is to paint some designs on them.
Now, I seem to recall several people wanting to mint coins, and others interested in receiving coins if I make them. If this is true, speak up. Any other thoughts and input/design ideas are welcome too.
I'll see if I can get a digital photo up of a coin so you can see it for yourself.

Oh ye who torments me in dreams of dark abysses, beware the sleeping shadow, for it is a bane like no other...

Names! We need to name the coins!
Our unit of currency should be the Shirithian Mark (I would recommed the arms of Shireroth on the reverse, and a portrait of someone or other on the obverse.)
An example of the heirarchy of currency:
Mark
Ducat
Dubloon
Crown
Shekel
Pence

Humans : correct in making the leap from wealth as currency to wealth as energy. But logic failure : wealth ultimately is extension of desire, fluctuating with emotions and state of mind. Desires : when all are supported in purely adaptable system, true wealth is achieved.
