Ministerial Merger Proposition (MoMA Summons)
The Duchy of Naudia'Diva hereby voices its opinion that the Ministry of Immigration, Naturalization, and Tourism--being vacant after the resignation of David Beckford--does essentially the same job as the Ministry of Military Affairs. Both offices keep our nation safe and secure, though in different methods.
The Ministry of Immigration, Naturalization, and Tourism ensures our nation's safety by making sure that each citizen who applies is not a threat to the nation.
The Ministry of Military Affairs ensures our nation's safety by using military might (either defensively or offensively) to protect the nation.
This proposition would merge the Ministry of Immigration, Naturalization, and Tourism into a Department of the Ministry of Military Affairs. Granted, this would make us appear more militaristic, but it would also show others that we are serious about our security. And, with the absence of Attera, there is no real military superpower anymore. Why not us?

Summoned.
As Minister of Military Affairs, I have to support this bill. I don't see any problem with being the big kid on the block...
However, I ask that we start some sort of recruitment drive to support that title. Drag out all the old people from wherever they've gone.
We need people to be a military superpower.
Oh, yeah, and I'm willing to do the MiniImNat job as part of my MoMA duties too.

I'm not sure this is a good idea. I know there's a lot of talk about "We don't need good relations with anyone else!" but actually, we do. Presenting a military rather than administrative face won't help with that. At all.
I dislike arguments: they are always vulgar, and often convincing.

Debate was, well, over yesterday. However, we're still allowed to discuss, of course.

MINT can have far more of a purpose than just doing a census/immigration stuff. Just because we currently do not have a minister does not mean that it has to merge with MoMA, which really doesn't make any sense. MoMA realistically is about the development of a fictional military and its uses in RecWar. It is nothing about being safe and secure, as we do not practice 'net warfare anymore, nor do we try to seriously defend against it. By the way, what ministry is SHINE part of? MINT has a lot more potential than what people think of it. MINT can:
- Record immigration/emmigration, including investigation of past purposes of
- Create a census to have a measure of active citizens
- Moniter forum activity, including statistics in order to quantify a measure of activity
- Come up with tourism campaigns to invite new citizens (This is critical)
This is completely different from MoMA. There is no law saying that a minister can't have more than one position anyway. (If there is, there shouldn't be.) Just because we treat it as a trivial ministry which a less active citizen usually is placed there, does not mean that it should be. In reality, it should be our most important ministry.
As well, we shouldn't treat ourselves as a military superpower anyway. The last thing we should try to make Shireroth look like is something like America - we certainly are arrogant enough to be America.

I dunno... eh, I think I'm going to side with Bill on this one. They're two seperate functions, and should be in separate Ministries. And if there's no reason why someone can't hold two Ministries at once (and I'm pretty sure there isn't a reason), then by all means...
So, if I may resume the votes for my own Barony...
Northern Brookshire votes NAY (4).
And as for the Duchy of Naudia'Diva... milord Fax, would you like to resume casting your votes?

although it doesnt sound like a bad idea, and i dont see how we'de be seen as a military power since recwars seem to be tame and rule based, but thats just what i know now not what i know later....
anyway. I'm reconvinced. no reason why we cant have a double minister and MINT is fine not integrated into MoMA.
Vorpmadal Votes NAY (5 or 4) not sure yet.
