Abdication
I name Greg my successor.
This reign sucked for me. I got the throne, got massively ill (upper respiratory infection which spread to my ears), Got better, got about half of what I wanted to do done, got swamped with school and things got inactive. I got blaimed for it, Got ill again and still swamped with school and massively over stressed.
And so I leave the throne pissed off. Under my reign I built a new charter and cleaned up the decreebook a bit. And no one cared. But when I become inactive due to school and illness, I'm now a bad Kaiser (Harvey).
People treat the Kaisership like a joke now. It has lost all respectability. All it has left is power. And people think everyone has a right to it no matter what. Like it's some position every one should be able to hold. Hell, you almost treat it like an elected position. With this tradition of no more than 3 month reigns it's basicly become just that. At this point in time I might even argue we should have no Kaiser anymore, since it's become a joke to you all. The kaisership isn't a popularly appointed position. And rebellion to accually take the throne has little precedent! Letifer I was a planned event to make the transfer from James to Me more interesting. Mors I I don't even recall. and Los II was a botched attempt to replicate the Mog rebellion. Which I might add simply got people mad at me because I tried to liven things up.
It seems like no matter what I do or don't do as Kaiser.. It's never enough for you people. You always want to dump on it and proclaim how bad a Kaiser I am... especially people like Harvey. I kept my nose clean this reign, and still I'm a bad Kaiser. I did not massively "conservative" "OBC" and whatever other names you call me stunts. Hell, the new Charter has more checks on the Kaiser than have ever exsisted in the past, and no one cared.
The Kaisership isn't what it's supposed to be anymore. It's supposed to be an administrative position, that when we have a fully functioning Landsraad and ministries doesn't do much. But now people look to the Kaiser to do everything. Ministers are there for a reason. The Landsraad is there for a reason. The Kaiser, in times when the population is up is only meant to work to maintain the nation and keep the Landsraad and Ministries in line.
If you want to get mad at someone for inactivity, look at yourselves, during my reign the Landsraad didn't do much of anything. I had to go threaten to steal souls to get them to vote on a treaty. The reason I didn't do anything for a while was cause there was nothing to do. No one was around.
I figured my reign would be spent working on the Charter, but no one said a damn thing about it. I got a few random comments, but I wonder how many people even read it. And how many even cared.
I was waiting for people to start getting active again so I could continue my work, but it seems I'm not really wanted anymore. So why bother coming back, even with my health improved again?
One last thing. That Trial needs to hurry up. It's taken to long.
So, Greg Russel is now Kaiser. And I quit.
I Letifer H'Graa II hereby abdicate the throne of Shireroth.

I can understand your reasons...
I think that there was a mistake in democratizing Shireroth. Well, in Elwynn particularly. But, the current system means that the lowest people decide who will become a baron, or a duke.
Then people may think that the same would apply to the Kaisership. Maybe not consciously, but there's a feeling that you can negotiate the next Kaiser, as you can within your greater fiefdom negotiate the terms for barons and dukes and who shall become barons and dukes.
Perhaps we should return to the old system where the Kaiser had the absolute power in ruling the different duchies and baronies...
Maybe things will get better then.
Take care, Erik.

I don't blame Erik for his inactivity. Personal problems are.... personal... Noone can help that.
People who are blaming him for the failure of the nation do not have a full grasping of the complete situation. The big picture, so to speak.
There are other fish that need frying, and people, not just Erik, need to be active to fry em. So either we hustle and cook, or we let things sit and spoil. The future is in your hands.

Don't even get me started. I consider the fairness of my judgement the most important part of that trial, and in case you hadn't noticed, I scheduled it to start back up on Wednesday when I am thinking clearly and no longer worried about passing my finals. It's not like I'm dragging my feet or don't care about it.One last thing. That Trial needs to hurry up. It's taken to long.

That's true, too. And also, he keeps talking about how he was swamped with studies. I see that he's written this, and then I look at the ministers and most of the citizenry and I think, "Well, they've got work to do, too, yet they're still here, soldiering on." And I think, "They are just as (probably more) dedicated than the current Kaiser, and really do more," and then I draw the conclusion that most of his excuses are raw and utter bullshit.

I'm sympathetic for poor health leading to inactivity, but I don't think someone should be kaiser if that is the case. I also don't have sympathy for getting pissy and hostile and outrageously defensive when people are actually trying to have fun with their hobby. I mean, honestly. Then blaming others for everything going badly instead of trying to see what people are thinking and seeing how to work with it, is not cool. I'm glad Erik has abdicated, because he was in no condition to be a decent kaiser if he just got back form being inactive and sick, and screamed at everyone for having a bit of fun. Greg is an excellent choice of successor.
