Imperial Inquisitor Act of ASC 2371

Post by Kaiser Letifer II »

James put this forward for me when he was Kaiser, but no one voted on it. So I put it forward again, with a new name. Bill and I found it amusing.

To be added to Chapter VI

E. Imperial Inquisitor
1. The Imperial Inquisitor shall be appointed by the Kaiser of Shireroth, Steward or in both of their abcenses, by the Landsraad.
2. The Imperial Inquisitor may not be an officer of the Landsraad, or a Minister.
3. The Imperial Inquisitor is considered an officer of the Imperial Judex.
4. The Imperial Inquisitor is charged with bringing forth cases before the Imperial Judex that may normally be overlooked, and that the Imperial Inquisitor is not personally involved with.
5. In cases levied by the Imperial Government against an individual or organization, the Imperial Inquisitor shall act as representative for the Plaintiff; the Imperial Govenment.
6. The Imperial Inquisitor may still be personally taken to trial, or take others to trial as a private citizen.
7. The Imperial Inquisitor may be taken to trial for misconduct, or misuse of the position of Imperial Inquisitor.
8. As the Judex is under the authority of the Kaiser, and was created by the Landsraad, the Imperial Inquisitor may not levy charge against the Kaiser.
9. Imperial Inquisitor may levy charge against any ministers, noble, officer of the Landsraad, private citizen or organization, or private non-citizen.
10. The Imperial Inquisitor may petition the Kaiser directly to levy charge against the Imperial Arbiter for misconduct or misuse of the position of Imperial Arbiter.
11. The Imperial Arbiter may dismiss the Imperial Inquisitor at anytime, with the Kaiser getting final say.

Hmmm. Well, I do like the idea of having such a position... and the bill seems to close most of the possibility of the position being abused.

I have no particular objections, I think.

Interesting - doesn't look too abusable...

"2. The Imperial Inquisitor may not be an officer of the Landsraad..."

Does this mean noble, or positions like the Praetor? If the former, that would be sort of a problem, given how large the Landsraad is nowadays.

Well, that would help out in giving meaningful jobs to people who don't have any, but that might come at the cost of familiarity with the laws of Shireroth... Which would certainly be a problem...

An officer of the Landsraad only refers to people like the Praetor, who have specific jobs to do aside from voting. I forget where it is defined, possibly in the Charter. It specifically states that a noble position alone does not make you an officer of the Landsraad.

The Prætor is an officer of the Landsraad. The Nobles simply make up the Landsraad, and are not officers of it. I may only be defined by tradition, and not in law. I'm not sure. I think it does state somewhere though, that the Prætor is specifically a offic of the Landsraad.

I edited it to fix some name problems. such as the Provost now being the Arbiter.

That kind of ruins the point of a debate period...
