The Next Book

Post by osmose1000 »

Quick Question - Anyone got a better idea where I could put these besides here? Maybe MORE? (An association with MORE would be cool but kinda pointless beyond putting the Shireroth logo on every book made...)

Anywho, now that I've recieved my copy of Microscope and have evaluated it's quality, I'm ready to try my hand at another one. Anyone have any ideas on what I should do next? Anything you might yourself buy? Got a story you're working on and want it as a book?

I'll do anything that clocks in at 100+ pages (Microscope itself was 202 pages with a 12-size font, and I'm going to try knocking it down to 10 or 11 but compensating by increasing the margin size a bit. For reference, Microscope in pure .doc form with no alterations to margins or anything was roughly 140 pages, so don't expect THAT much of an increase during conversion, maybe a 1/3rd at best.), although if it's longer I'll be more willing to do it. The page requirement is because I'm planning to buy 1 copy of all of the books I format, and skipping over one because it's too small will make me a very sad Moose.

I'll format the book for printing on Lulu, convert it to PDF, and make a full wrap-around cover (with the lil Moose picture and blurb on the bottom of the back), as well as saying the book was edited by me on the inside cover page. I'd appreciate an idea of what you want your cover to be, or, even better, a mockup of what it should look like. I'll run all these past you before submitting them to Lulu. If you like, you can make your own account on Lulu and upload the files I give you so that you can set a royalty and make money off of any purchases you make.

I really had fun doing Microscope, so I'm hoping that more people will ask me to get their book printed. :moose

Whew. Makes me wish I'd actually finished some of the many stories I've written, got disgusted with, and discarded...

Same here. Or rather, I wish I'd kept some of the stories I finished fully, but decided were a liability against my character and subsequently burned them. :tomcutterhamonfire

Well then start working now!

Shyriath, try expanding the SSHIT summary into more detail - I can visualise an old leather-worn cover with the Shireroth emblem on it, and it would look really cool.

...does it have to be micronationally related?

Most likely at least somehow related to micronations.

Well, then Greg and I will be finishing up Siege of the Questing Stone soon. I'll expand and edit it, and we'll get it out there.

Also, Moose: Would you be interested in publishing a book of my poetry? Yes, I can make it to at least 100 pages. And what about a compliation of the Hunters of the Stag, expanded and in detail?

Yes and yes, although I don't guarentee I'd buy them myself - money's short these days. Plus, I don't guarentee the BEST quality cover, but I try.

Perhaps what we could do after we get about 5 books going.. is set up one of those bookstore things, so taht all the profit we make (maybe .50/book in profit or something small) can go towards paying for the website or whatnot we need money for..

I can set royalties on any of the books I publish, although I'd prefer to do it on a by-case basis so people who want one published can have their money going towards them, since the only thing I get out of this is the Moose emblem on the back cover and a lot of fun doing it.
