All I have to say is:

I'd be happy to help, as was said. Just because I failed before as Ministesr doesn't mean I wouldn't mind being Under-Under-Secretary or something.l

And failed as minister?! Hardly!! I hope to be able to fill your shoes... and you're the direct assistant, as far as I'm concerned.

I did just as badly, but I did trade it for a ministry job I really wanted - Minfo.

That mod looks good to me for a start.

The...idea...is....terrible. No economy can be healthy unless people get money only for satisfying some demand. This just gives money out willy-nilly without anyone giving the money or the people getting the money doing anything for anyone.

No economy can exist unless someone tries something. It's a sound idea if we work something out with the houses/mansions thing. Implementing it now would be premature, but it's not, as you claim, a bad idea.

I still hold that the best solution is one that's more of an economics simulation, but I see no harm in messing around with a post-based model.

At some point, I am going to propose before the Landsraad both my restructuring of Baronies and my old economics model. I suppose I'll do it after this one fails, because I don't want both of them running at the same time. Just letting you know I'm not a total pessimist who thinks nothing will work.

But the problem is making it where those that do not want to participate don't need money like those that do.

Exactly. That's the thing about making it more of a sim.

If someone opts not to participate, their production slows and then stops, and they no longer need the resources they were previously consuming. Only those countries participating would be producing/consuming resources.

It's just a thought.

Could we make a 'toggle' button? Allowing them to turn the mod off for their account? that way, those who WANT to have an economy get their sim, andt hose.... 'infidels' (:P) who dont, dont have to.

That also means, that if the economy on their account is toggled off, they dont get money for posts - or, money period.

I'm sure we could do something like that if we managed to develop said program, but that would all be up to the MiniTrade guys. :)

People who opt not to participate can get a salary of sorts on state welfare and be listed under that same welfare category of the system.

Just like the rest of the lazy bastards in the real world who don't get off their asses and work for a living. :P

Let's expand a bit on the graphical element issue. Are there mods or is there someone who can design a mod allowing for a "house" to be built? Could this be expanded upon by people selling designs for addons to be put in? How about the resource system? Buy marble, make a marble statue, and set it in your house?

I think that would be a real eyecatcher.

If it can be done, I support Osmose's suggestion.

That way, only Barons and Dukes can afford really nice castles, while Counts might be reduced to just a large manor.

Considering the economy hasn't even started yet, I wouldn't worry. Note how everyone's exempt for the first two weeks after the economy begins.
