The new Kaiser.
I have it down to three. I will give a quick commentary beside each name explaining my reasoning.1) Shyriath Bukulos- He's been active all summer, he's been kaiser before, is extremely well liked, and perhaps it will pull him back in deeper. 2) Fax Celestis- I don't think i've actually served under his reign before, but he HAS been the single most active person around, and he has been kaiser before (heh).3) Scott Alexander- Been kaiser before, is well liked, knows what he's doing with the foreign policy, AND he's been to europe and actually met 1/3 of these guys we're dealing with.
Re: The new Kaiser.
I would be willing to pull a Mors again... or, as I am so tempted to do, a B'caw the First. Believe it or not, I AM still around. However, I would also heartily support either Fax or Scott... Scott's abilities as Kaiser have been proven before, and his threat of zombie armies is just irresistable. Fax has only been Kaiser for one-day periods, more or less, but he IS enthusiastic and most likely deserves a shot at a longer reign, if he wants it....And, if I'm supposed to help you choose between candidates, that was absolutely no help. Oh well. I'm leaning toward Scott, I think, but as I said, I'd be willing as well.

Re: The new Kaiser.
Well...tradition is apparently that you choose Fax, he rules for a day and then makes me Kaiser...which wouldn't bother me as long as he DID resign...I'm not going to badmouth any of the other candidates, despite their known habits of engaging in deviant behaviour with kiwis, but I promise to be much more active in the future, I haven't been Kaiser in a while, I have a reputation of sticking with things, and I have wonderful, wonderful plans (which I will reveal to you in private if you so wish) "Whenever I hear the word 'culture', I reach for my revolver." - Herman Goering

I'll have you know that that kiwi was involved of its own free will, and was of consenting age!

Re: The new Kaiser.
I can't say I have any problem with Shyriath. What he does in his personal life is his own business.Scott...well...does some interesting things...and since he already has plans...well...I'd have to hear these plans before I can give him my full reccommendation, but he's still a good man for the job.James, I believe, has expressed that he is not a very good leader and is not all too interested, but for all I know he has changed his mind. He would take some talking to.Overall though, I can't really reccommend one over the other. They are all very experienced candidates. It depends mostly on the direction you want to see things go. Scott would be more reform oriented than Shyriath. James is very traditional like me, but with a different sort of edge.I won't say I'm unbiased in the situation, however. But in all fairness I could live with any of the three on the throne. And I'm n ot one of the candidates, so I'm less biased than the other two here. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

This is a hard choice indeed. And yes, you guys were of no help.Well, actually, this WAS helpfull in the sense that now I know all three of you ARE still interested... I guess...?

Re: The new Kaiser.
It is true that I am usually pretty reform-oriented. However, right now seeing, very few of our institutions are working (as may have been noticed), it's an excellent time to reform something, as the way things are obviously aren't working. I promise to limit my reform to getting stuff back on track rather than more controversial, dodgy stuff like trying to increase *gasp* democracy. The one exception to that would possibly be my trade proposal, and even that I would not dare to implement without the support of the Landsraad.Since you want my plans, and this is a reasonably private environment:1. Eoin has already promised he'll do MiniEx for me if I take the throne, so that'd fill up that ministry.2. Fire Bill and take control of MoMA myself for the moment; mostly devote that to making SNARL a world-class institution. Keep SHINE around as our defense against real threats, though I still believe that real threats aren't really the kind of thing we can adequately defend against except on the spot.3. Two words...Shireroth Wikipedia. I bet Moose can set this up, and David says he'll be able to if Moose can't. We could use it as a legal archive, to keep lists of important stuff like lists of citizens on, and of course as an encyclopedia. I'd like to invite foreigners on there too to make it a replacement for MicroWiki as well. This would replace the moribund Tony Au library, and I might close down MiniResearch in its favor also if we don't get a new Minister.4. Trade. At the very least, make a physical currency design (Nick's or someone else's) a reality. At best, create a real economy based on the proposal I offered back in the spring. I won't do this without broad national support, however.5. Get religion running again. The Wikipedia will help organize mythology, but I want to first see some sort of official hierarchy able to make decisions, to get a declaration saying everything that's not in writing is undecided as of now so that people have an incentive to write stuff without someone else saying "Oh, no, that conflicts with what's in my head", and to set up some system where people actually pray to specific gods for specific things. This would best be done through some sorta religious council...I would have to talk to Greg and Fax about this as they're more involved in religion than I at the moment.6. 6. After most of this is taken care of, I totally agree with Fax that recruitment is most important. Printing out (and enabling others to print) hundreds of Yardistani Annexation stickers with our website on them will help. Brochures, which I would be happy to make, will help also. I will also, though, be happy to leave most of that up to Fax if he does a good job which I am sure he will. Edited by: Scott of Hyperborea at: 7/26/05 11:59
Re: The new Kaiser.
Sorry, my connection's been acting up... I'm hoping it's working now, if I get knocked offline in the middle of one more post, I'll bust somebody in the skull. Ahem. ...I'm afraid, to my own vast disappointment, that the few ideas I was having don't quite compare with Scott's... particularly the Wikipedia one, which is quite shiny indeed. I also did want to work on getting SNARL and the military revamped, but that's about as far as I got. Scott is more of an idea person than I am, I think. The only other thing I could think of was getting rid of the office of Ombudsman, which in retrospect seems not to have done much. Nifty in concept, perhaps, but apparently too dependent on a lot of people wanting to complain in private; I'm not yet sure I want to give any practical power to an elected office, and I'm not sure what else would make the Ombudsman more useful. Perhaps it's better, in that light, to just get rid of it for the time being.Other than that, though, I don't have much else to offer as far as Kaiserial plans.

Re: The new Kaiser.
I like Scott's ideas.Though the wikipedia one sounds suspiciously like an idea I brought up when I was MoRE. No matter though, I'd like to see it achieve fruition. And yes, Shyriath. Ombudsman is kind of a dumb position. Most people, as far as I've noticed, complain in public anyway. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware of that and wasn't deliberately trying to copy you...and if I did, then you copied your biography on facebook from mine on LiveJournal (barring strange coincidences), so there. "Whenever I hear the word 'culture', I reach for my revolver." - Herman Goering
