Commonwealth + Iain
The Grand CommonwealthQuote:mercurivs: hello did you get my message about dublin ok?GSquid314: Yes, I did. Congratulations on your Commonwealth's formation.mercurivs: thank youGSquid314: Which do you prefer - being yelled at in real life, or online?mercurivs: oh online definitelyGSquid314: All right, then I'll do it now and we can be on great terms on Saturday. [one sec]mercurivs: okGSquid314: You are Shireroth's Minister of the Exterior. You have obviously been working very hard for a very long time to completely rearrange the intermicronational landscape in a way that absolutely does not benefit Shireroth and which obviously benefits a foreign nation other than Shireroth instead. Can you explain how these two points go together?mercurivs: Well I started work on this months before being foreign minister was even a remote possiblity. It all started as a means to reclaim and safeguard the territories of the Apollo Foundation that were forcibly vacated.GSquid314: Really?mercurivs: Yepmercurivs: The alternative was to shut the MCS forum in protestGSquid314: So at what point did Babkha become involved, and why?mercurivs: but trying this seemed like more funmercurivs: Babkha only became involved at the end of January, after having sold Ardashir on unrealised dreams of empiremercurivs: and that was after the orignal fourth and fifth members were no longer interested, Treesia, Aerlig and Lemuria being the original first, second and third onesGSquid314: But you became MiniEx of Shireroth in January (or at least that was when the confirmation process started). We are most connected to the Apollo Sector, and we were never even informed. Why was that?mercurivs: Because Arminy decided to join Shireroth insteadGSquid314: Why did that mean we couldn't be involved in the Commonwealth?mercurivs: and because Shireroth needed a counter-empireGSquid314: Ah!mercurivs: not to get bigger (and indeed it has now gotten smaller)mercurivs: and alsoGSquid314: This may, or may not be true. But it hardly bodes well for the head of *our* imperialist activities to be actively working on thwarting us.mercurivs: becuase there had to be some people left to surpriseGSquid314: Sorry. We learned back in the Arminy phase. The reason you weren't put in charge of that project was because we knew you were working on this thing instead.mercurivs: well, it hardly bodes well that the employee and the employer of the head of our imperialist activities conspired to remove that position from him for no good reasonGSquid314: Rephrase that. You're accusing me of trying to remove you as MiniEx?mercurivs: presumably Johanns told you about his other options then?GSquid314: No, we learned them from other means. Johanns was quite big on secrecy.mercurivs: no, removal as head of Shine, which came with the jobmercurivs: good for himmercurivs: it must have been Arminy you heard from thenmercurivs: as they were the other ones who decided to chicken outGSquid314: Arminy = the other ones?GSquid314: I thought you said there were two?mercurivs: yepGSquid314: So one is Arminy, and who are the others?mercurivs: sorry not Arminy - Anticamercurivs: I always got those two confused for some reasonGSquid314: Ah. Well, I can't give you any info on sources, but you're smart enough to figure it out.mercurivs: I also know that they received their latest leak about it a week or so ago via NIAGSquid314: But now you see why I couldn't let you be head of our intel agency. We were trying to annex Arminy. I learn that our own MiniEx is working on a counterplot to take Arminy away from us and not telling us about it. How am I supposed to give you the position in the country that requires the greatest trust and loyalty when you've just admitted to working against us?GSquid314: NIA?GSquid314: They = Antica?mercurivs: although it originated in Babkha apparentlymercurivs: some strange organistaion in San Martin I think , a place I avoidGSquid314: Antica learned it from San Martin who learned it from Babkha?GSquid314: I avoid them too.mercurivs: Something like thatGSquid314: Meh.mercurivs: Too compliacted for memercurivs: Well at the time I wasn't working against Shireroth because I wasn't working for Shirerothmercurivs: if you were that worried you woulddn't have employed me in the first placeGSquid314: I employed you in the first place, and then I learned about this. I figured I would wait and see what you did before giving you access to any secrets. When I figured out what you did do, it seemed to be working against us, so I continued not giving you secrets. Which leads us to now.mercurivs: I seemercurivs: I did give you some vague hints in LondonGSquid314: You did, but that was when you weren't working for Shireroth, as you point out, so it doesn't really matter.mercurivs: but after Arminy joined it seemed the whole thing wold collapse anywayGSquid314: Which is why you brought Babkha in?mercurivs: getting Babkha on board was a last resortmercurivs: and amazingly it actually workedmercurivs: and by that time Ardashir wanted the empire bitGSquid314: It was a good idea, but I still think it would have been much more consistent with your job title to try Shireroth.mercurivs: perhaps, but knowing why Arminy had pulled out, and having to welcome them into Shireroth, and then facing the cpossible collapse, there didn't seem much point at the timemercurivs: and then things moved on anywaymercurivs: and by that time we all wanted it to be a surprise for everyone elsemercurivs: so there wasn't much point in telling everyonemercurivs: so how amny people actually knew back in January?GSquid314: The people in S.E.P. I don't know how many other countries heard it from the same source we did.mercurivs: But presumably when nothing came of it, you thought it had gone awaymercurivs: ?GSquid314: Until I heard stuff a couple of weeks ago about this new version, yes. I figured Arminy pulling out had killed it off.mercurivs: well so did wemercurivs: so anyway, it exists nowGSquid314: Tell you what. I'll try and get the Shirerithian government to launch an Official Investigation. This helps you because we'll have to wait until we come up with rules for holding Official Investigations, and actually hold one, which will take forever. It helps me, because by the time it's over, if they find against you maybe a miracle will have happened and someone else who's half as competent as you to be foreign minister will have shown up on our doorstep.mercurivs: LOL

Interesting... and yes, Antica was in way back when, when Lemuria was heading the idea, but we backed out when I didn't have popular support for it. As for Antica's source, it wasn't San Martin's NIA (which I can provide stuff from if you'd like, but I don't recall if there's anything relevant in there).So... I suppose I could have created another thread for this (this being what I'm about to say) but I'll spare you the forum space and start here... We should do something about this. There are a number of Anticans calling for a response (they have been for a week or so now) to the commonwealth, they want a counter-commonwealth of sorts, but a hell of a lot better, and with better, actually active nations, and not necessarily centered around one nation (as this new one is with Babkha). We want a military and political bloc, consisting of a group of nations with common interests and varying tenures in the micronational community. Sounds utopian, eh? Anyway, Antica obviously would like to take part and we can probably get in Natopia and Lavalon, and possibly Attera, since there's nothing Attera loves more than blocs than blocks countering Babkha , but we would really like to see Shireroth if possible. I'm sure there'll be plenty of skepticism about this so fire away but I really think it could be beneficial to both the new... thing that is created, and for Shireroth as well.Oh yeah, and Johanns is pretty surely going to hold a plebiscite soon and leave from Shireroth... maybe we could ironically rope them in as well. Hm. I won't miss Johanns. We need to get fewer Duchies anyway, and Johanns has doing all sorts of stuff in Attera and nothing at all here. But I support this. I would support it even more if we called it the Benacian Commonwealth (or Commonwealth of Benacia), because Shireroth has a long history of being part of glorious commonwealths called the Benacian Commonwealth. And I would support it most of all if its symbol, whatever it was, contained the Eye of Horus, because of a certain...ah...incident between Iain, Ardashir, and myself. I'm not at liberty to say more, but let's just say it would piss them off (as their having the Eye of Horus on their symbol is meant to piss me off) and be suitably interesting. It might also be possible to get Novaya Zemlya involved. Why don't you make a secret forum for this on the Antican board and we'll start plotting. Or I could make it here if you'd prefer an EZBoard location. Re: Commonwealth + Iain
Antica's forums would be suitable. I'll create a forum post haste and I'll give you access. And the symbol can be whatever, I'll leave that to you creative minds, but I'd like to avoid the word "commonwealth". My musings on the subject have mostly taken the form of a powerful alliance of sorts, but those such details could be discussed in the forum. So look for the forum next time you go to Antica.
