Goldshirian Nobility (Duchal Decree... #18)
Goldshire hereby recognises the following various and sundry ranks of Nobility within the confines of fief of Goldshire.Chevalier, the landed non-nobility, they are permitted to run a city in my name, they are granted a voice and a vote in the Paladin Council. All citizens not granted another rank in this decree, are hereby granted the rank of Chevalier and are free to create a city in Goldshire to call their own, subject to the rule of law and my will. To create said city, they merely need to tell me their desire, the city's name, and a suggested location.Lord, the landed nobility, they are permitted to hold a manor in my name, they are granted a voice and a vote in the Paladin Council. All current lords are hereby maintained and reinstated at their rank. Lords, for who I do not give a specific manor, may create their own following the same process as Chevalier's and cities.Viscount, fief-holding nobility, they are permitted to hold a fief in the name of a count, they are granted a voice and a vote in the Paladin Council. None currently. Viscounts, for who their Count does not give a specific manor, may create their own following the same process as Chevalier's and cities. Count, fief-holding nobility, they are permitted to hold a fief in my name, they are granted a voice and a vote in the Paladin Council. All current Counts are hereby maintained and reinstated at their rank. Counts, for who I do not give a specific county, may create their own following the same process as Chevalier's and cities.Marquess, fief-holding nobility, they are permitted to hold multiple counties in my name, they are granted a voice and a vote in the Paladin Council. None currently. Any Marquess, for who I do not give a specific margravate, may create their own following the same process as Chevalier's and cities.Baron, fief holding nobility, they are permitted to hold a Barony in my name, they are granted a voice and a vote in the Paladin Council. All current Barons are maintained of their rank. Barons, for who I do not give a specific barony, may create their own following the same process as Chevalier's and cities.Duke, the supreme land owner of Goldshire, me. I'm permitted to do anything I want inside my fief, so long as it does not violate the laws of the Imperial Republic of Shireroth nor the decrees of the line of Kaisers. So do I hold this power, so do I grant onto the nobility of my realm the same power with the same restrictions. You may do whatever you so wish within your fief, so long as it does not violate the laws, decrees, and restrictions imposed upon you by those in place above you.The strucure of Goldshirian Nobility, if you couldn't figure it out, is as such (Most power at the left, least at the right):Duke -> Baron -> Marquess -> Count -> Viscount -> Lord -> ChevalierAdditionally, it is my promise that I shall not unduly abuse the power I hold over my subjects and if I find any of my nobility unduly abusing their power, I shall intervene.P.S. - This does not affect anyone but the counts and lords of Lombardia, the rest of the 'nobility' in that county are, still, unrecognised by the throne.
