A Call to Unity: Reading the signs of the times

Post by Knight Magistrate »

Calormen House12 Constitutional Hill, Bergen, EmdenOFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL17 November 2003Fellow Members of the micronational community,It does not do to reinvent the wheel every three months--that is, come up with a legislative body to pass the usual framework laws when nations merge or dissolve; or draft constitutions that never get implemented; or faithfully publish a monthly newspaper that no one really reads. Yet we continue to do so, and why is that?I know. I too have experienced these things in various permutations. Which of us has not spent many a sleepless night wondering how to deal with the many pressing matters of state befalling our various nations? Which of us has not tossed and turned in bed conjuring strategies to win over the political opposition or out-create that pesky microwarlord? Which of us here present now have not dreamed of a virtual national portal that would be the envy of that two-bit king five ezboard servers away? Which of us, indeed, has put up so much time and effort into this endeavor only for it to result in massive disappointment, a victim of the micronational malaise we all know, and very real to us, as The Black Death? We have seen nations rise and fall, while others stand the test of time, still vibrant, still active. Is it not possible for this good fortune to spread to our individual nations? We members of the micronational community have our own individual and collective strengths, and by our own local activity have invariably contributed partly to the colorful atmosphere of this part of the micronational universe. We recognize that the Apollo Foundation has done much to preserve the collective memory, while the MCS has done a lot to help survey the geographical shape of this sector of the microverse. We acknowledge the efforts of Zayin I, hoefensill, and their predecessors in the ICEO in creating the PHP Microexchange, as well as the Treesians in fostering intermicronational sport. Chief Justice Nantell of Babkha is the undisputed Doctor of Laws, and perhaps the best judge we have, as the Atterans are without doubt the king spooks and spymasters in the trade. The Shirerithians have managed to infect silliness into the nomads of the Babkhan desert, resulting in sightings of the Babkhan Sandworm, while the (capitalist?) Winston Marlboro has claimed to have corrupted young socialist minds in Baracao, and elsewhere, leaving his insidious trail of smoke behind. The Pendronians, on the other hand, have silently begun carving a niche for themselves by becoming the primary micronational heralds with their experience in heraldic and insignia design. These are the signs of our times. I see the beginning of a micronational renaissance at hand.I now invite you, micronationalist, to personally come to a conference in Milyukovsk, Archenland, Greater Muscovy, in the Empire of Calormen, to voice your opinion on these matters. I also invite your national leaders to, by their own legal processes, appoint one credentialed representative who shall cast your nation's vote on your behalf. Leave your political posturing at the door. There is much more we stand to gain and learn from each other if we pool our intellectual capital and share our common knowledge. Surely it does not hurt to heed the signs of the times. I await your presence at Bergen, for registration prior to subsequent trasport to the nordic seaside city of Milyukovsk, in Calormen. With great respect,Rt Honorable Sir Christopher Wyndham, KCOA, OH, MP.Governor-General of the Empire of Calormen.
