Excellent.Firebird 0.6 wasn't stable enough for me and 0.6.1 doesn't yet build with Portage... which means that I'm using Mozilla 1.4 at the moment. Unfortunately, that's tad unstable, too . But I have plans... and I don't really care about what browser I am using right at the moment... In order to find his equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to a Finn.

I have bested my Browser!

When I put this comp together.... I hybridised Win98.. and Win98SE... cause I only had an install disk that didn't only work on a compaq for 98.. so I stole drivers from 98SE.. anyhoo.. my broswer... IE never worked right.. I finally got pissed off to the point of getting a new browser... Mozilla Firebird.. and I like it... MAUHAHAHHAHA E. 0.6 or 0.6.1? I don't know if the reason was form autocomplete, but 0.6 was the most breaking browser I've used in my life... In order to find his equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to a Finn.

Just FYI, Mozilla Firebird 0.6.1 is now considered an Officially Wonderful Browser. There's only a single notable bug I've found this far - needing to ctrl-tab twice to get out of a tab that hasn't finished loading - and that's very acceptable considering the speed, memory use and (even!) stability benefits over Mozilla 1.4. Oh, and the extensions. I'm going to want to play with those things... they're über-cool. Unfortunately not all of them work very well... but at least mouse gestures do (and you just *do not know* how useful right-up-left is until you've used it yourself), and I'm going to try enabling and disabling things until I end up having the penultimate browser... (which will become ultimate as soon as ctrl-tab works properly in all tabs) In order to find his equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to a Finn.

I noted one problem... when I got to my bookmarks.. and go into the Micronatoins folder.. and than right click and go to properties for a link... than close the property box.. I can't get into the micronations folder unless I restart the browser.. very odd. maybe I'm missing something.. E. Reproducible on Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030805 Mozilla Firebird/0.6.1. I don't use bookmarks so I didn't notice it myself. I'll have a look at Firebird's Bugzilla to see if this has been reported... In order to find his equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to a Finn.

bugzilla.mozilla.org/show...?id=210910None of the workarounds (save restarting) worked for me... but it might (hopefully) be fixed soonish since its introduction seems to have been narrowed down to a quite specific time. In order to find his equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to a Finn.

You should. I'm reiterating it... Mozilla Firebird is one hell of a browser. It shines through every part of it that it was created by people who know what they're doing to simply be as good a browser as a browser can be. In order to find his equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to a Finn.

This is so sweet....All these gesters require me to hold down the right button mind you..But Right takes me back.. Left takes me forward. Up Left take me back one tab. UpRight forward a tab. Down Up take me Home. Down is Stop. Up is reload...Right Left Right is close window... Left Right Left is close document...Right Up LEft opens a link that I right clicked on in another tab... same thing without the Left a new window....This is SOOO uber cool... I just gonna figure out copy paste soon.. That would be funny if some day I had some complex gester to just go to Shireroth..... hmmm.. E. Nope... first, see "Editing Mappings" in http://optimoz.mozdev.org/gestures/technotes/ . Now, here's my initGestureTable: function initGestureTable() { // *** navigational gestures (& related) *** addGesture("L", "g.BrowserBack", "BrowserBack();"); addGesture("R", "g.BrowserForward", "BrowserForward();"); addGesture("UD", "g.BrowserReload", "BrowserReload();"); addGesture("UDU", "g.BrowserReloadSkipCache", "BrowserReloadSkipCache();"); addGesture("LU", "g.BrowserStop", "BrowserStop();"); addGesture("DURD", "g.BrowserHome", "BrowserHome();"); addGesture("RDU", "g.scrollDown", "globalSrcEvent.view.scrollBy(0,200);"); addGesture("RUD", "g.scrollUp", "globalSrcEvent.view.scrollBy(0,-200);"); addGesture("D", "g.openNewDocument", "openNewDocument();"); addGesture("DU", "g.duplicateWindow", "duplicateWindow()"); addGesture("ULU", "g.upDir", "upDir();"); addGesture("979", "g.upDir", "upDir();"); addGesture("797", "g.upDir", "upDir();"); // *** tab gestures *** addGesture("U", "g.BrowserOpenTab", "if(globalOnLink) linkInTab(globalOnLink[0]); else BrowserOpenTab();"); addGesture("DUD", "g.duplicateTab", "linkInTab(window._content.document.location);"); addGesture("UR", "g.nextTab", "getBrowser().mTabBox._tabs.advanceSelectedTab(+1);"); addGesture("UL", "g.previousTab", "getBrowser().mTabBox._tabs.advanceSelectedTab(-1);"); // *** window manipulation (minimize etc.) addGesture("RU", "g.restMaxWin", "restMaxWin();"); addGesture("DL", "g.minWin", "minWin();"); addGesture("RLR", "g.closeDoc", "disableContextMenu = false; BrowserCloseTabOrWindow();"); addGesture("DR", "g.closeDoc", "disableContextMenu = false; BrowserCloseTabOrWindow();"); // *** misc *** addGesture("URD", "g.viewFrameSource", "BrowserViewSourceOfDocument(globalSrcEvent.target.ownerDocument);"); addGesture("LDRDL", "g.viewFrameSource", "BrowserViewSourceOfDocument(globalSrcEvent.target.ownerDocument);"); //Squarish "S" addGesture("LDR", "g.viewSiteCookies", "viewSiteCookies();"); // Squarish C addGesture("L1D3R", "g.viewSiteCookies", "viewSiteCookies();"); // Round C addGesture("URDURD", "g.metaInfo", "metaInfo();"); // Squarish M addGesture("U39D", "g.metaInfo", "metaInfo();"); // Real M addGesture("RLDUR", "g.explodeBackground", "explodeBackground();"); addGesture("DRDLU", "g.addBookmark", "addBookmarkAs(document.getElementById('content'));"); // *** link drag over gestures *** addGesture("RUDR", "g.doubleStackWin", "doubleStackWin();"); // Diagonals stuff addGesture("3", "g.doubleImageSize", "if (globalOnImage) { setImageSize(2); } else { zoomIn(); }"); addGesture("7", "g.halveImageSize", "if (globalOnImage) { setImageSize(.5); } else { zoomOut(); }"); addGesture("1", "g.hideImage", "if (globalOnImage) { setImageSize(0); } else { resetZoom(); }"); addGesture("31", "g.zoomIn", "zoomIn();"); addGesture("13", "g.zoomOut", "zoomOut();"); addGesture("313", "g.resetZoom", "resetZoom();"); addGesture("131", "g.resetZoom", "resetZoom();"); addGesture("39", "g.w3cValidate", "w3cValidate();"); // globalOnLink stuff addGesture("+RU", "g.linksInWindows", "linksInWindows();"); addGesture("+RUL", "g.linksInTabs", "linksInTabs();");}I haven't yet tested if this works (so... well, it might break), but to implement the gesture, I'm going to do the following: First, add this line inside the initGestureTable function: addGesture ("URL", "g.goToShireroth", "openURL('http://pub9.ezboard.com/bshireroth');");Then, add this to $mozilladir/chrome/mozgest/locale/en-US/mozgest/mozgest.properties : g.goToShireroth=Go To ShirerothIt's only a description and the only thing Firebird does with it is showing it to you on the status line, but... well, it's good style to include it.
