look... the thing about spammers is that they don't do it again. They get one person to go around to every damned board on the server and post once, never looking back, hoping that they get someone from that... this is one of the reasons we don't like spammers, is that they don't care about the nation enough to even look back to se if someone is interested...I like ari's Idea of multibabeling their post and sending it back to them... nothing extreme, don't waste our time on these guys too much because then they winif they are stupid enough to come back, then we definitely should bomb their collective arse

I don't know if you see things the way I do, but in my world, getting along with people is a value in itself... think of it. We aren't the only people responding to these spammers. However, in the case of this Harry Potter one, it seems that I was the only person who responded (in the end) in a nice and diplomatic way... and what happened? He apologised. Twice, in fact. Once after the Dissociated-Press reply and once after the diplomatic one.Let's say you're a person who has just built this über-cool new board and want people, even people who you don't know, to see it. Unexpectedly most of the people that you advertise to respond with "Go to hell to fuck your dead mother"... but there's this one guy who says that "You know, it's not that one post would be that disruptive, it's just that several posts from several different spammers are. You've learned your lesson now, and I hope you won't post about your board on other people's forums without contributing at least some original thoughts to them first". Of course you'll want to convince that one person to post more on your board - which we will have to refrain from doing (*) - but you'll also be quite susceptible to the ideas of that one nice person. He or she has, after all, has been much nicer to you than expected. This does not mean that we could be evil and brainwash people to become Shirithians... but it does mean that we can tell them to tell their friends that spamming boards is bad. (*) Although we can be nice, the lesson still must be taught. So... no help other than fatherly guidance about how you could become a better person. I think these people just need to have a lesson taught to them. But I don't think going to war is a good idea because it will only waste our time and *cough* military resourses and will just prove that we care. As for motive, we are choosing one random spammer with a Rowling addiction to attack, just because we are tired of spam and he caught us in the middle of a war anyway.
