Scott is on his way out of Shireroth when he is approached by a red haired, bearded man with an odd twinkle in his eye and a face that Scott could never for the life of him recall afterwards. The man asks for the sword Vengeance. Scott had almost forgotten it was on its person. But for whatever reason, he gives it to the mysterious stranger without a second thought. Later he would state he felt an odd compulsion. In return, the stranger gives him a ring with a white flower on it, purpose unknown. He also signs the Norse rune Laguz, symbol of the god Loki. Then he grabs the sword and thrusts it into the nearby rock with all his might, and proclaims, in a voice so loud that it can be heard miles around "ONLY THE RIGHTFUL KAISER OF SHIREROTH CAN REMOVE THIS SWORD FROM THIS STONE!!" At that, the stranger disappears as quickly as he had come. Scott hears the sound of artillery and realizes that he is near Shirekeep, and that the battle may reach him any moment now. Abandoning the sword, he continues onward, anxious to get out of the way before the armies arrive.
