Re: Unified Shireroth Plan ... take a look
I counted Velouria and the territories as duchies, by the way. Also, which state would merge with which will be decided once this plan gets some support...if it gets any. ;)I havn't posted this in the Landsraad yet as I want to put a finished copy there, not merely a rough draft. So, once I get some feedback I'll write up the official act and post it there for voting. Unified Shireroth Plan ... take a look
I have a few ideas for the reformaion of Shireroth's government setup. Yup...here it is...theym whatever...UNIFIED SHIREROTH PLAN:1. The current fifteen duchies shall be merged into five states, each containing three former duchies2. The Landsraad shall be dissolved3. In its place, a congress of states shall arise. This congress will be made up from representitives from each state4. The number of representitives shall be two , or, if this seems to be too much, one5. The representitives shall be elected by the people of each state.6. The congress of states shall have all the powers of the former Landsraad, plus any given to it in the process of enacting this plan7. The Kaiser shall not have the power to dissolve this congress8. Representitives shall be elected several times a year, the exact dates will be decided upon at a later date Philip Locke"Life is far too important to be taken seriously." -Oscar Wilde

Re: Unified Shireroth Plan ... take a look
What are the pros to the USP (United Shireroth Plan)?1. The election system will create an incentive to work/be active, since people will want to be elected2. Having 5 duchies/states whatever instead of 15 will make Shireroth a model of "compact efficiency" ;)3. It will eliminate the problem of inactive states, since it mergers would be coordinated so that more active duchies would be mixed with less active duchies. The main plus to this plan is the first, since it will most definitely create an incentive, although the 2nd is pretty good, too. The USP will not lead to a Tymarian situation, in fact, it will reduce the likelyhood of such a scenario because it will end the mentality, "I am only in Shireroth for my duchy".Yup...thats about it...I think. personally, I like the way it is now... even with inactive duchies and subdivisions, we're getting along fine... and once we establish business and trade, there will be a bit more incentive... we're still in the making, no matter how we deny it. Why not take a risk and try a different plan? Yea, we may be 'making it', but perhaps we could be flourishing. Under the current system there is little incentive...and little change.Let's take some chances... Philip Locke"Life is far too important to be taken seriously." -Oscar Wilde

Do not fear democracy! The existence of a congress does not mean the degeneration of a nation into a Tymarian-like stupor. Philip Locke"Life is far too important to be taken seriously." -Oscar Wilde

There's something I never thought I'd hear in my life: Do not fear democracy. We're perfectly happy with our capitalist monarchy of a republic now. Heil Apostrophe! "Some are destined for greatness, but others decide for themsleves."-Destiny, Angel of Light

Shireroth is not a republic! There is no democratic representation and there is a supreme leader. This, my friends, is an oligarchy. Philip Locke"Life is far too important to be taken seriously." -Oscar Wilde

the dukes are the representatives in the republic, and the Kaiser is not a supreme power, and is not even exercizing much of what power he has. Heil Apostrophe! "Some are destined for greatness, but others decide for themsleves."-Destiny, Angel of Light

Representitives that are not elected. And yes, Erik does hold supreme power whether he excersises it or not. Philip Locke"Life is far too important to be taken seriously." -Oscar Wilde

well, good point there, but that supreme power of administrator must be held by someone, and I believe we all trust erik completely with that, as he has handled it well over the ages. Heil Apostrophe! "Some are destined for greatness, but others decide for themsleves."-Destiny, Angel of Light

okay, so we should give you the administration powers?someone has to hold it, and like I said, you already have proven that the sharing of that may lead to corruption. Heil Apostrophe! "Some are destined for greatness, but others decide for themsleves."-Destiny, Angel of Light

So if one democracy goes bad there should never again be another democracy? Plus, he can still retain admin privilages but not be supreme leader in other ways. Philip Locke"Life is far too important to be taken seriously." -Oscar Wilde

What are you driving at? We could have a true republic, one in which we have elected leaders, and Erik could retain admin privilages. Philip Locke"Life is far too important to be taken seriously." -Oscar Wilde

Blah... we're basically just a democracy anyway, all citizens who are active in the least are nobles anyway :). Or... then again, we do have a dictator. That means that we're a dictatorship disguised as a democracy disguised as an oligarchy... "The Euro symbol is a little box? Actually, the 'Oi' is practically a trademark of punk rock ;) (real punk rock though, not the commercial pop shit that passes as it these days) So I'm moving on...
