Republic of Aerlig
I come bearing the gift of myself (pauses for applause and cheers) and, in tow, this treaty proposal from Aerlig.Quote:WHEREAS the REPUBLIC OF AERLIG and the REPUBLIC OF SHIREROTH, having come into contact with one another and and finding their interests to be coincident, do desire to formalize and secure their cordial feelings, they do agree:That each recognize the other as a sovereign and independent country, possessed of all the rights entailed thereby; That each recognize the other as the sole legitimate owner of all territory, both physical and imaginary, which they claim; That both countries commit to resolve all mutual disputes peacefully, using a neutral third partied agreed to by both should this prove impossible by normal channels; That both countries shall remain open and accessible to tourists and other visitors from one another, barring national emergencies or other such security issues; That proper channels of communication shall be opened between them, so as to facilitate dialogue and future cooperation; That both countries shall tangibly demonstrate their good will and desire for one another to prosper by including a link to one another in some means on their forum; That in a time of crisis, the nation in strife shall have the upmost support of the other nation. What do you think? Would you wish to open relations/discuss them? I believe you know of Aerlig so I dont know what else to provide you with (Reading your "treaty-in-a-can" I think I just remembered where my can treaty originated )

Re: Republic of Aerlig
I'm sorry. I can't believe I totally missed this for so long. For obvious reasons, I like most of the treaty, but I can't help worrying about "That in a time of crisis, the nation in strife shall have the upmost support of the other nation." Wouldn't this be more of an alliance than a basic recognition treaty? It would seem that it would obligate us to support you in any conflict you got into, and while I'm sure Aerlig would never do anything silly like declare war, I don't think I could be comfortable knowing we had such a clause we had to live up to, especially with what recently happened between Babkha and Cranda. Perhaps you would be interested in striking this out or toning it down a little?

Yas, feel free to strike it out. Actually strife was not supposed to refer to war, i think it was civil problems or something, i cant remember. So strike it out

All right, that without the aid clause is fine with me. I'll propose it now.

Thanks. So have we, so I guess it's in effect. Woot. "The Lord is a shoving leopard." - Reverend William Spooner
