Proposing new Oath
Quote:I, (name), hereby swear allegance to the Imperial Republic of Shireroth and the Imperial Charter. I swear loyalty to the noble underwhich I shall reside and any subsequant nobles above zie. I swear loyalty to the Landsraad of Shireroth and to the Steward of Shireroth should there be one. Above all these I swear loyalty to the Imperial Crown of Shireroth and the Kaiser or Kaiseress who currently rules over these lands. I swear to follow the orders of all those to whom I now swear allegiance. Above all I swear loyalty to the Imperial Republic of Shireroth. I swear to never move against her in times of war or peace, to never harm her or through inaction allow her to come to harm. I swear this oath of allegance upon this day, (date). This is just an idea. I'de like some feed back on it. I'de like to make this the require oath upon immigrating to Shireroth. I want to require also that it be worded EXACTLY as it is worded here, when it is sworn by immigrants. None of this making your own oath.I may also require that an oath be added to the census. Proly simpler than this. I'm not sure. Mortis BrookshireKaiser of ShirerothEdited by: Kaiser Mors III at: 1/21/04 8:54 pm

Re: Proposing new Oath
Quote:I swear to follow the orders of all those to whom I now swear allegance to.Sorry. You just activated a pet peeve of mine. This should be "all those to whom I now swear allegiance." If you want to do it colloquially, you can get away with "all those I now swear allegiance to". But "all those to whom I now swear allegiance to" is just overkill on the prepositions.Quote:to never harm her or through inaction allow her to come to harm.Might as well throw the Third Law too and get the whole trio.
