Tradition demands I kill you now for trying to break tradition. *smack* There are no flowers, no not this time. There will be no angels gracing the lines, just these stark words I find.

Actually, a few have done just that. And who would have thought that my fate, it would conjure this twist in the road on which I have wandered?Each vision and dream now completely dismembered, to give one's whole life and find nothing's remembered...And what good is a life that leaves nothing behind? Not a thought or a dream that might echo in time

Idea for Scott and Future Kaiser(esses)
Have any Kaisers and Kaiserresses ever thought of picking an heir BEFORE the last two days of their reign? I know when I get Kaiser ((Note.. I am pulling for the when.. not if... :P)) I want to raise up my heir WITH me, try to get them to continue some of what I am doing, and slowly give them my powers as I begin to fade from the scene.

As Fax said, it used to be pretty common, although I can't remember anyone specific. One of the advantages I see to this way is that everyone has every incentive to keep on doing their best until the end and we don't have any period of a "lame duck" Kaiser. It's also more fun keeping everyone in suspense.You make a good point about grooming an heir, though - I just wonder what there is to teach. It's not like everything the Kaiser does isn't pretty public for everyone to see and learn from. The only surprise I had the first time I took the job was how much work it involves.

Still, even just assigning him a teacher to go over the fictional history(so far our only accounts are the records by Scott... ironically.. our current Kaiser....)Then of course getting him introduced and working with the current Cabinet/Ministerial Regime, so he knows EXACTLY what changes s/he needs to make when s/he comes to the Throne.And, having an Imperial Prince, Kaiseress, and perhaps even Princess would be awesome... shireroth would finally get a complete Imperial Family.

I have a feeling the grooming a new Kaiser tradition isn't dead.*coughmorsivcough* Gryphon the Pure- Shirithian Elder - Dutch of Kildare - Minister of the Interior - High Priest of Apostrophe aka Grammar Fuhrer - Director of the Shirithian Census - Imperial Advisor -q=parseInt(Math.random()*gryphSig.length);q=(isNaN(q))?0:q;document.write(gryphSig[q]);q=parseInt(Math.random()*gryphSig.length);q=(isNaN(q))?0:q;document.write(gryphSig[q]);q=parseInt(Math.random()*gryphSig.length);q=(isNaN(q))?0:q;document.write(gryphSig[q]);

Re: Idea for Scott and Future Kaiser(esses)
I was -so- not referring to Ari. I was talking about Erik grooming Shyriath for Kaiser, which was incredibly effective, if I recall correctly.It's quite annoying that I have to rely on my reccollection for this, rather than just looking in the archives, all of which for the reign of Kaiser Mors IV are gone. Gryphon the Pure- Shirithian Elder - Dutch of Kildare - Minister of the Interior - High Priest of Apostrophe aka Grammar Fuhrer - Director of the Shirithian Census - Imperial Advisor -q=parseInt(Math.random()*gryphSig.length);q=(isNaN(q))?0:q;document.write(gryphSig[q]);q=parseInt(Math.random()*gryphSig.length);q=(isNaN(q))?0:q;document.write(gryphSig[q]);q=parseInt(Math.random()*gryphSig.length);q=(isNaN(q))?0:q;document.write(gryphSig[q]);Edited by: Gryphon the Pure at: 8/5/05 22:42
