Re: Stuff
Nick...the issue is that we want it to be really graphically pretty. I was thinking of nagging my same graphic-design oriented friend who made the Hypermark to make something for Shireroth, but we can definitely get together some ideas of what we want on there and then I can see if he'll implement it for us.

Although...rather than bother him...Joe seems to be getting really good with graphics stuff...I wonder if he could do it.

Re: Stuff
Rereading this, I just noticed that Nick was offering to make money and I was being a complete jerk about it and saying he shouldn't. I have no idea why - I blame odd hours and constant stress, and I don't even think I understood what he was saying. So...sorry, Nick.

Don't worry. You didn't stop me...Except drawing new graphics in GIMP is a bit difficult. But the outcome thus far looks good. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...Edited by: Gryphon Avocatio at: 7/21/05 20:16

I'm just trying to figure out what to do with all of the free space in the center. Then I can start on the back. Not bad for having little clue about what I'm doing. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

Re: Stuff
I would enlarge Erik's picture and move it a little closer to the center. You could then put "Imperial Republic of Shireroth" vertically along the right side in a fancy script or something. That said, it looks amazing as it is and could be considered essentially finished. If only we had the ability to do intaglio printing. *throws grenade for the hell of it*BO0O0O0O0/\/\!!!!!!Edited by: Hypatia Agnesi at: 7/22/05 2:38

Thank gods we finally got the old € symbol back. This symbol really bugs me. Gryphon the Pure- Shirithian Elder - Dutch of Kildare - Minister of the Interior - High Priest of Apostrophe aka Grammar Fuhrer - Director of the Shirithian Census - Imperial Advisor -q=parseInt(Math.random()*gryphSig.length);q=(isNaN(q))?0:q;document.write(gryphSig[q]);q=parseInt(Math.random()*gryphSig.length);q=(isNaN(q))?0:q;document.write(gryphSig[q]);q=parseInt(Math.random()*gryphSig.length);q=(isNaN(q))?0:q;document.write(gryphSig[q]);

Re: A call for debate
The needlessly intricate border is giving me the most trouble, interestingly enough. When I'm not so busy working and/or being forced to be social, I'll get this finished. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

Not meaning to adulterate (hahahah) the greatness of the currency, but you really can't use the Euro symbol for our currency..

Re: A call for debate
When the Unicode people add to the map, and people include it in opentype fonts, then maybe i will. For the time being, I'm using the euro. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

Re: A call for debate
Why not just use the letter E? We look like eejits using the euro symbol. You don't see it every day, but I do, and my first thought is "Why can't we find our own bleedin' symbol?"I know plagiarism is one of the five pillars of Shirerithian society, but surely we can do better?

Re: A call for debate
Eoin's right. After spending some time in Europe, it looks about as silly to me as using the dollar symbol would look to you. Considering that a sizeable minority of our citizens are Europeans, that needs to be taken into account.I don't object to E, boring as it is. Re: A call for debate
Is there a currency symbol that uses either the upper or lower case letter E with a vertical line instead? Some sort of a modified E/e would be good for our currency. Alternately, an e with a circle around it (close to (e) in appearance) might work, though it might look silly.Anyone else have alternate symbols for the erb other than a regular E/e? *throws grenade for the hell of it*BO0O0O0O0/\/\!!!!!!

Re: A call for debate
Any of these work?I personally like the second to last one. And who would have thought that my fate, it would conjure this twist in the road on which I have wandered? Each vision and dream now completely dismembered, to give one's whole life and find nothing's remembered...And what good is a life that leaves nothing behind? Not a thought or a dream that might echo in time

Re: A call for debate
I like Fax's first, third and next to last the best. I think the third one is more obviously an E, which might make it more appropriate for currency, and the first one just looks really cool, and also would work. The e's with circles look cool, but I guess not for currency. *throws grenade for the hell of it*BO0O0O0O0/\/\!!!!!!

I'm a fan of arrobatherapy's e's:Although I have to say, the second and third ones of Fax's are quite tempting. Gryphon the Pure- Shirithian Elder - Dutch of Kildare - Minister of the Interior - High Priest of Apostrophe aka Grammar Fuhrer - Director of the Shirithian Census - Imperial Advisor -q=parseInt(Math.random()*gryphSig.length);q=(isNaN(q))?0:q;document.write(gryphSig[q]);q=parseInt(Math.random()*gryphSig.length);q=(isNaN(q))?0:q;document.write(gryphSig[q]);q=parseInt(Math.random()*gryphSig.length);q=(isNaN(q))?0:q;document.write(gryphSig[q]);Edited by: Gryphon the Pure at: 7/28/05 19:12

They're all good, but I thought the objection to the was that you couldn't make it on a normal keyboard, and these don't seem to help that problem. "Whenever I hear the word 'culture', I reach for my revolver." - Herman Goering

Don't use the Euro Nick. I'll make it a silly decree if I have to. Reason? Scott's reason.
