Imperial Decree #205: Treaty of Aquilaria

Re: Imperial Decree #205: Treaty of Aquilaria
Hey Greg, I'd IM you if I saw you online. Now, I suppose I should say something about all this... But nah, not yet. I wasn't prepared, I've been too busy to write a speech! Speech shmeech you might say, but it's certainly tradition for micronationalists like myself to make long-winded statements on monumentous occasions like this...By the way, I should be getting a change in forum title sometime soon, right? I thank you for the apology, Lady Kaiseress. I hope all disagreements between our nations can be resolved so amicably. On the matter at hand, Attera does have issues with Shireroth annexing the Dinarchy. We honor Shireroth as an ally (Scott- there's a treaty buried way back in Dec. 2002; I don't think it even has a title) but we do not recognize the Dinarchy as the legitimate Antica. This presents a conundrum for us. Since Your Niftiness was so prompt with the apology, I will confer with the Mesafinaat Bet as to our next move. I hope to discuss it privately with you before it is made public.

...wouldn't this then solve the issue, as the Dinarchy no longer exists?

Yes.. but they recognize the land as the republics. which we now claim... that is likely their issue. E. Metzler (UEC)Duke of Brookshire"Never use a BOO/\/\ist as a diplomat" -- GSClicky Clicky..., Tiss for your own good ya know.

I think that if I, of all people, have been willing to drop the issue (at least for now), that everyone else who was dragged into the argument should just give it up. I'm not fighting the legitimacy fight right now so just get over it and find something else to worry about.

The Reconciliation Resolution, passed on 15 October 2005:Quote:The citizens of the Republic of Antica here assembled resolve that the Dinarchy of Antica is officially, unilaterally recognized as a sovereign micronation. Thus, if the leader of the Antican Republic wishes to uphold his nation's own decision, he should drop this issue of trying to claim the territory of a state officially recognized as sovereign and thus free to make its own decision on this matter. The Dinarchy of Antica chose to do this, and as long as the Micronational Cartography Society chooses to recognize the Dinarchy's claim on that territory, then they ought to recognize the Dinarchy's will of transfer of power. And for those who had decided to recognize the Antican Republic as the only Antica... we never... or at least I never wanted that to happen. The Antican Republic may have split from the Antican Dinarchy, but the Dinarchy was still around. Recognizing the Antican Republic as the only Antica may have been a nice gesture, but it was contrary to common sense. You actively refused to acknowledge the existence of something right in front of you. Hell, the Antican Republic recognized the Dinarchy's existence.

I agree with Octavius on this matter. I think it makes no sense to simply refuse to recongize a nation's existance. From my time in micronations, the concept of recongition was a matter of starting relations with a micronation, not saying that "we recongize that you exist." I don't think you would need that, and it's quite silly to have it as such in micronations. While the issue of what is recongized as the rightful heir to the pre-schism nature is a legitimate issue, this is completely different from saying that one nation does not exist.
