The only thing the line of succesion does differently is make people angry.Come to think of it, I can't remember much of a line after Gaelan II...I would remember this, since I declared war on Shireroth to get the Kaisership since according to the _heir system_, I was to be Kaiser (See Imperial Decree #4 ). But due to reasons unbeknownst to myself, I never got it. Now I don't remember exactly what happened, it was a long time ago, but Ari ended up being the next Kaiser. Afterwards, it was erik. The record of imperial decrees breaks here, so I can't truly say what happened. I don't really care though, I'm not as power hungry as you think I am...But I've digressed. As far as the heir system being the reason we have had Kaisers in the past, I don't think anybody can back that up, mostly because it has never been used.Another interesting fact: of the 17 Kaisers this nation has had, 11 have been Erik. This suggests that the line may have another purpose, especially since he's put his own name at the top of it.Sorry to be such a pain, Erik. That's just a trend I've noticed. -Gryphon Avocatio- Lord Governor and Duke of all Yardistan - Minister of Research and Education, Shireroth - Shirerothian Elder - "Minsiter of Dance, Pants and Funny Walks" - SAVE THE KIWI!! - Lover of Llamas "You're intense and driven. And we doubted that I'de give up the throne?I used to ONLY give up the throne when I thought I was to tired to rule well, and thought I'de give people I trusted a chance to rule. This is why MOST Kaiser's are me. The recent rotation of Kaisers is a recent thing.. and will proly never happen again... (Yes, that's is right.. I am saying I don't plan to give up the throne....and never plan to lose control of it like I did after Aure...) I admit I am guarenteeing that I remain my power. I founded the Kaisership with me as Kaiser.. this isn't a democracy were we change leaders every 2 months.. I may change names as the mood and situation suits.. but.. yeah.. I'm not trying to be some overbearing despot.... I'm used to being friendly(in my own way..) to everyone and giveing everyone chances at things and such... now maybe the Line of Succession isn't the best thing. but I guess it was to make a point...The way things used to work..was.. basicly.. I was Kaiser.. that simple.. unless I wanted a vacation.. than I'de appoint Stewards and/or a new Kaiser to take over for me.. Kaiser's being picked from the Line of Succession. Why am I telling you any of this? Because it is part of the nation history.. things people have forgotten... I'm trying to set some parts of this nation back to what they used to be.. and traditionaly have been. I guess it's been to long for some of these things to go back right away... so perhaps I will have to move slower.... Mortis BrookshireKaiser of Shireroth

So why, if there is not going to be a Kaiser switch for quite some time, post this list at all? All it does is prioritise some citizens above others, and for those who would consider themselves your friends RL, I suppose it must be hurtful to be left off (California Clique and all that). Why not, when you feel lousy, appoint Scott your heir on the "spur of the moment" and keep this list on your own computer? he just wants to be able to be able to come back and claim the throne if he so wants to....although a decree saying he could do so would probably be the easiest way to do that without angering people. I disagree with the list, mostly for the reason which Eoin has just pointed out. Shireroht now has a clique. It's not classism, we had that already and everybody knows it. Cliques...are different...bad...i disagree with the selections on the list as well. I think that some of them should definitely be reconsidered, especially since I can come up with more capable people...maybe reorganise it a bit better. But ultimately, erik...if you want to keep your position for all time, then why not just declare a steward to take over when you're gone...and then that way...you'll be the only kaiser...and not have to worry about it? -Gryphon Avocatio- Lord Governor and Duke of all Yardistan - Minister of Research and Education, Shireroth - Shirerothian Elder - "Minsiter of Dance, Pants and Funny Walks" - SAVE THE KIWI!! - Lover of Llamas "You're intense and driven. Jesus Christ! Some people look WWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to into things.. it's just a fucking list. I threw it together kinda quickly... It's not like this is a new thing.... It's partialy mostly based on time in the nation. the OLLLD list used to be Me, Lukedu, Foley, Dstryker, Ed Conway...ect.. I just grab a few of the older cits, put them on a list. I happened to put people who were Kaiser once on the list higher up. for proly obvious reasons. Mostly this is just so if I vanish, (which I used to..) the is someone who can ligitly claim the throne. I could just say Scott.. but what if he isn't here? And what if Nick isn't here? I've had that problem in the past....I had to scramble to find a replacement so I could take a break. And once agian, people are looking WAY to deap into it. Sometimes I think people LOOOK for things to be offended or angered by...Just because. I'll proly change the list quite a few times.. but the more fuss you make, the more my pride and ego will be brused/assualted, and the more likely I am to become stubborn and not change things.... So, Shut up! If you know what's good for ya..hehe . I would like to possibly have the ability to change this someday when I get around to careing enough about it. So... if you wanna piss and moan.. talk to me in private... just make sure to send the messages to /dev/null/... Mortis BrookshireKaiser of Shireroth

I think this is a good choice. Unless it means you're being depressed and are reworking the succession because you're leaving soon, in which case it's a bad choice. But otherwise, definitely a good choice.

I was hoping for "Because Why?" ... but oh well.... Nick still has time.. hehe.. TO LATE!Because I realized.. I can't Decree this.. Should have realized it earlier... The Line of Succession transcends the powers of the Kaiser. It would be like... trying to decree the line of success of England... or some other nation that still has its monarchy...(most seem to have killed theirs... so sad...)Accually.. in all honesty.. taking into account how I wrote the "Constitution" so long ago.. Their is no heir to the throne yet... Proly won't be for many years... I wrote the succesions of nobles to be.. literal.. but when we had to get replacement Dukes long ago... it kinda got forgotten... In all honesty.. the only person who could be my legit heir.. would be my son or daughter.... if I don't have one.. my Wife... Under Shireroth law would be legit enough.. so ONly really Alex has the rights to my throne... Unless I appoint a Successor.. The Line of Succession back in the day was a ... unofficial document to keep track of who could try to claim the throne if I vanished and had no real heir.... It was kinda dictated by who had been in the nation longest... That was what I was trying to clean back up with this decree. I'm not joking.. nor just making this up on the spot. Remember that discussion on "Blood Lines"? And I said they refered to REAL blood? Anyhoo.. the Line of Succession after Letifer was just me.. Meaning only I could take the throne.. which I did as RAynor.. but never cleans sup the line... meaning Aure was kinda ilegitamate.. and she couldn't have been my Heir.. as she was NOT my daughter.. or of my blood.. Meskan could not be her Heir.. due to the same reason.. though Meskan to JAdie was Legit... Since they were wed... That's why I decreed Aure-Jadie Legit... Retroactively... Which still stands.. Cause that would be mean not to keep that... And cause problems..Now for purposes of the Fantasy Blood lines I'm gonna finally write up.. Aure Began Meskan.. who maried JAdie... ect ect.. There is the Line of Raynor.. Raynor I-X... plus some others... the Line of Mortis.. Which will oddly include Viviantia I.... Cousin or something... wait.. Daughter of Mors I... Mors II was her son... Than she went nuts...Mog was his own line.. starting and ending with him...hehe Ari too... I should let Ari be Kaiser again.. that was Fun stuff.. anyhoo..Make more sense now..? Or to much info? Mortis BrookshireKaiser of Shireroth

Question: Haven't ALL the Kaisers been legitimate because they were decreed as heirs, and a Kaiserial decree is law that supersedes all other laws?

Kaiser's are still subject to their laws... THe Chater is over the Kaiser until he edits it... The "Line of Succession" was how we got around the Blood line thing... Mortis BrookshireKaiser of Shireroth

So a Kaiserial decree cannot violate the charter unless the Kaiser decrees a change to the charter? Interesting..

Yes.... I've been trying to tell people that for ages.. Yes.. The Kaiser can edit the Charter.. but he can't violate it outright. He is subject to even his laws. Mortis BrookshireKaiser of Shireroth

Another bit of Trivia.. the only two things with the power to put the Kaiser on Trial for violating the Charter are.. himself.. and the Landsraad... Though I doubt they would get very fare in a Trial... Since the Kaiser has Judicial power over them. Than again.. the Kaiser could always agree to submit to them . Though if they tried to do something like.. take the throne.. it proly wouldn't go over well... Mortis BrookshireKaiser of Shireroth

The charter thing is incredibly pardoxical for in decreeing a change to the charter you are technically decreeing something that violates the former charter which means that the Kaiser violated the charter in making a new one.as for taking the kaiser to trial thing, that wouldn't work so well...but at least you noticed that. -Gryphon Avocatio- Lord Governor and Duke of all Yardistan - Minister of Research and Education, Shireroth - Shirerothian Elder - SAVE THE KIWI!! - Lover of Llamas Give me your child, and by the age of five, I can make him a priest or a thief or a scholar. - SCOTT: You know, I always joke about how nothing will ever be able to get me out of micronations...but...I think if my mother got into micronations that would get me out in a hurry. - GUILDENSTERN:We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.

The Charter is a Decree.. the Kaiser can override a Decree. THus.. Decreeing a New Charter basicly removes the old Charter.. No paradox there. Yeah.. it would be kinda hard to put the Kaiser on trial.. But one could proly use a big enough violation as grounds for rebellion..hehe Mortis BrookshireKaiser of Shireroth
