Anyone know of a decent map program?

Post by Fax Celestis »

I'd like to do floorplans for things like the Kaiser's Castle, the Cedrist Temple on Mirioth, the Temple of Horjin...but I can't seem to find a program that does floorplans easily and to scale.I'm tempted to do it in Neverwinter Nights as a 3d rendering, but that would not be condusive to outside uses. Campaign Cartographer is supposed to be good for things like that, but unfortunately it's not free... I know there are programs a lot like it out there that ARE free, but I couldn't name one off the top of my head.

Well there are a lot of cheep options, one which comes to mind for floor plans is TurboCAD. You can find it in a jewel case (if you're lucky) for ~$10 bucks. On the other hand, I would highly recommend AutoCAD, namely 2005 or 2006 as it has a better suite available for floor plan layouts. If you don't want to dish out the ~$1000 price, there's always bitTorrent.
