I'd say the only feasible time for me would be the Thanksgiving one, as the only other one that I'd have a Friday off would be Labor Day weekend, and I'll have only been in school for a week, and won't want to make that trek so soon.

East Coast ShireCon timing

Post by Kaiser Los III »

It seems that we will be having the convention in New York rather than DC, despite the poll giving results contrary to what I gathered from the original thread and more people voting than had expressed interest in the first place. Suspicious. This poll is for the date. For each of the below possibilities, please post whether it would be convenient, inconvenient, or impossible for you to get to NYC on such a date.Keep in mind that all the dates I'm giving are a Friday to a Monday; depending on when you start college or how easy it is for you to miss classes you might not want to stay the whole time.September 2 - 5: (Labor Day)September 9 - 12:September 16 - 19:September 23 - 26:September 30 - October 3:October 7 - 10: (Columbus Day)October 14 - 17:November 25 - 28: (Thanskgiving Day) Edited by: Kaiser Los III at: 8/9/05 17:50

Although I most likely won't be able to attend, if anyone happens to be in the Berkshires, i'd be willing to meet with anyone wanting to pay me a visit at pretty much anytime. I have some vacation time, so i'm flexible schedule-wise. Useless art is simply tolerated vandalism. I am a vandal.

Your Kaiser is not yet old enough to have liquor...and if your Kaiser is not having liquor, nobody is (seriously though, I think probably only one or two people at most will be of age, so I'm guessing no)Eoin, you look somehow...closer.Nothing's wrong with stuff after that date in October, except that I thought we wanted to do this in the fall. If anyone can think of a compelling reason to do it later, I'm all ears. The caveat is that I already have a flight booked home for the winter so I can't do it over winter break (though the rest of you could if you wanted).Right now the best time seems to be either Sept 30 (which would lose us Gryphon) or Oct 14 (which would lose us Eoin). If MORE PEOPLE would post times, then it would help make the decision much easier. Edited by: Kaiser Los III at: 8/11/05 1:26

Why would October 14th lose us Eoin? Well...it might do, I still have no idea if whatever college I'm going to will be on or whatever then...I suspect that'll all be left to very short notice myself. Wil Nider to the HyperboreansEoin to the restZirandorthel to the ages

Trinity starts October 10, and you said you wanted to be at freshers, which starts October 3.

Thanks for the info, I wouldn't have known where to get it *studiously ignores Trinity website*Me making it was probably a long shot in any case, but yeah, that week is pretty much out of the question. Wil Nider to the HyperboreansEoin to the restZirandorthel to the ages

Very, very tentatively...September 2 - 5: (Labor Day) Inconvenient at best, probably impossibleSeptember 9 - 12: InconvenientSeptember 16 - 19: InconvenientSeptember 23 - 26: ConvenientishSeptember 30 - October 3: Inconvenient-to-impossibleOctober 7 - 10: (Columbus Day) ConvenientOctober 14 - 17: ConvenientNovember 25 - 28: (Thanskgiving Day) Impossible, as I would be drawn and quartered by my folks for being away during ThanksgivingAt this point in my life it's a little hard to say what's going to change between here and there, but a date in October would give me more time to plan, and to convince my folks, and do other things. On Labor Day weekend, I'll probably be busy, I think we're having a family get-together... My dad's birthday is on Oct. 1st, and it would be horrible form for me not to attend the party that will surely be held... and Thanksgiving, I think I've explained already.

Regarding the whole liquor thing, October 14-17 (which seems to be winning) is the weekend right before my 21st birthday! I would be 3 days from drinking, with a lot of people who might also like to, and not able to. Grrrrr. But Scott's got a good point. If the Kaiser can't drink, no one will. *throws grenade for the hell of it*BO0O0O0O0/\/\!!!!!!

No liquor? I won't have it! If we can't get it the usual way (while sitting on a rather small stool in a pub), I'll just have to bring it myself. I smell a live KZFO broadcast...

Speaking of liquor, 2 liters of Karlovacko beer = one hell of a good night.Does not always make for the best drive back though. Fortunately that's not nearly enough to give me any serious problems. However, I do feel a pressing need to sleep now, so g'night. SF-SN
