Not really Bill. Stop being so darn pessemistic. There are no flowers, no not this time. There will be no angels gracing the lines, just these stark words I find.

Please. Even Scott is worried about Shireroth. You should be worried too that we just lost two citizens whose contributions to the nation were priceless. Please don't drag me into this. I'm *upset* that a couple of good people have left. I'm not *worried*. We've survived much worse things than this and gotten through fine.

Bill, you're blowing things out of proportion, for one; and for another, you're being depressing. Shut up. Viatax Sitadi Axdivijink Regigoraauk

I was thinking that a solution might involve the "D" word, if only a slight "D"-ization.Have you ever thought of having a tribune of sorts, someone who is popularly elected, without a nobility title, having some votes in the Landsraad. I know that you are all very dead set on keeping the nation as apolitical as possible, but at some point you have to make a concession and begin adding some politicalness into the system or the system will die of inactivity. How much more can you develop the culture?

Whe have politics. We have a democratic process in the form of the Landsraad. We've had elected positions in the past, and they just die from inactivity. Viatax Sitadi Axdivijink Regigoraauk

The Landsraad is hardly a democracy. I'm not in favor of any particular system...but a bit of politicization might add the kick that the micronation needs.

...and democracy in micronations doesn't work. All it does is tear people apart across idealisitic issues that hardly ever pop up anyway. Viatax Sitadi Axdivijink Regigoraauk

Democracy in micronations does work, even if it can be unstable. Your experience in Menelmacar hardly is proof of democracy not working. Except we're NOT A DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY. We're simulating a feudal society, which was definitely NOT democratic. You want democracy? Go somewhere else. Viatax Sitadi Axdivijink Regigoraauk

Delvenus really didn't flourish in the first place, and Tymaria was screwed up for many reasons, its Democracy actually being one of its strong points when it was alive. Although democracy in a micro-nation gives citizens the impression that many of the barriers to ideas such as freedom, equality are removed, it does not actually do that. Why? It still fosters politics (which is largely unfree and unequal), and it encourages bending of the rules through loopholes. With feudalism you are still going to have politics and bending of the rules, but at least not under false pretenses. It's what everyone knows is going on and is actually less of an illusion than the "democracies" claimed by many micronations. Feudalism...is Shireroth's future, not to mention its illustrious past and present. The so-called chatroom IS the micro-nation. What I mean is that there is no simple concept called "micro-nation"; rather, a micro-nation is the sum of what all takes place in the so-called chatroom, and if the chatroom is interesting, the micro-nation will thrive. Let's just carry on with our hobby and not worry about what we are doing. Leave that up to the micronational historians. Shirerothian PatriotPrince of ByzantiaEdited by: vasroixe  at: 11/19/05 20:45
