Re: Is Shireroth anything more than a chatroom?
We're what a micronation is when it's done everything it can think of at the time. Which is, incidentally, what you call a chat room. We can either try to find something cool to do, continue on(well, we were doing the first one, I think) like a chat room, or go crazy over the fact that we're a chat room and break up. They call it a signature, but no one ever signs their posts...

Bill, that question is as rhetorical as the question "Is Cyberia more than just political bitching and whining?"

I look around here, and I hardly see any productive activity. Even those discussions that should promote activity (debates and the like) are a matter of being skeptical over things rather than real political debate. I rarely see new cultural stuff and the like. Most of the posts I see are just spam and talk. Simply put: Are we even a micronation anymore? We hardly do anything micronational. The government is pretty much defunct, and that is supposed to be the heart of a micronation, even in a cultural micronation. Ah now if you remember Bill said that most of what occurs in Elwynn is spam in relation to the war that failed to occur.

Re: Is Shireroth anything more than a chatroom?
I've been recently trying to get a handle on Kildari culture, and encouraging you in Antya. I also posted in the Kaiser's court asking if people generally wanted his proposal about feudalism, and how we would go about implementing it. Do you have any interesting legislation to propose or any interesting reforms to discuss?I happen to agree with Moose, as well, about what's going on. I, for one, at least like the social aspect of Shireroth as much as the political aspect, and right now I think we're picking up again on the political aspect. *throws grenade for the hell of it*BO0O0O0O0/\/\!!!!!!

Re: Is Shireroth anything more than a chatroom?
I disagree with Bill's rather unlogical outburst. Yardistan and Elywnn have been creating culture left and friggin' right, which does spill over into a litte bit of the political realm. and as for political, we're debating on whether to change the entire structure of Shireroth, HOW MUCH MORE POLITICAL DOES IT GET?! Just because we're not arguing about it doesnt make it seem any less political... politics CAN be nice... There are no flowers, no not this time. I find the idea interesting.. whether it really fixes anything.. I don't know.. but..I got no problem with making a change that doesn't send us backwards, or in the completely wrong dirrection, and I don't see it as being able to destabalize the nation. Re: Is Shireroth anything more than a chatroom?
To be honest, I'm kinda confused about the micronation, and what I should do. This isn't the first time I've had to learn rules by experience and questioning, and so I can't honestly say I wasn't expecting it to be confusing. So yeah... since I'm lazy, and I'm sure that at least some of the other people around here are lazy, perhaps we could get specific assignments....Yeah... The first step is admitting I have a problem.

Re: Is Shireroth anything more than a chatroom?
Marx was a fucking lunatic. The only way you can get communism to work is to remove people's individuality. That's why a communal society works with hive-minded creatures. Humans are not hive-minded; we are individuals, and as such a society where man works to help man will never fully succeed, because there will always be at least one person out there only to better himself--instead of his fellow man--and he will destroy the system.Unfortunately, because of the way the human mind works, this process is ingrained into our very brain structure. Monkeys have societies similar to ours, where the strong and brutal rise to the top and step on the others. We, as humans, are no better. We just sugar-coat it with fancy words and money. Marx and modern proponents of globalization both say that, but for different reasons.Since we don't have an economy, working class, capital, labour (well, we have a lot of labour, but I doubt Marx conceived that a hobby would be work) or any of the devices through which a socialist revolution can be focused and achieved, then I think that the Marx quote, aside from coming from some random agitator, is irrelevant..

Re: Is Shireroth anything more than a chatroom?
*smacks around for the spam*The perpetual malcontent comment is kind of cute, really, considering the fact that I really havn't been critical of Shireroth in the past couple ages. My point still stands, but if anything, mostly for the "culture complete" cop-out. I wrote a small essay on this earlier - a culture can not be "completed", and to say so is a copout. There are plenty of other micronations which have plenty to do, are years old, and are not considered to have done everything they have done. How can you honestly say that all our legislature is complete? If anything, there should be a complete reformation, and encourage people to come up with new bills some how. Culture? Most of us are lazy. I wish something could be done about the laziness. LoAs can be extremely bad sometimes, especially if it is a critical position. There should be more assisants ministers for this case. Et cetera. Don't have much time to talk, unfortuanatly; got class. It's not to say that anything is complete - the culture, law, etc. systems are all quite incomplete. It's that we've done them until they're boring. They call it a signature, but no one ever signs their posts...

Yeah, but fictional culture can be created, and that's the kind of culture that we refer to, because there's nothing we can do about real culture. They call it a signature, but no one ever signs their posts...

Re: Is Shireroth anything more than a chatroom?
Loving the defeatist attitude, Moose. What is "real culture", then? What is culture anyway? In an individualistic society such as a micronation, sometimes the best we can hope for is a shared set of interests, and we have so rarely gotten that in micronational history that it might not even be worth hitting for. So what we have instead is art labelled as culture. And for all intents and purposes, I think that art generated by citizens is micronational culture. And why the hell not? It doesn't need to be the Fifth Symphony or Carivaggio's Kiss, it can be something as simple as a treatise on the philosophy of a fictional religion. And if things are boring, then we obviously aren't doing them properly. Real life is boring. That's what we're here to escape from, right? So I plan to change the feudal system to make it more cutthroat and (in my opinion) interesting. I plan to get some of my promised goals running soon, and then after that, assuming I'm still in power, I may have a look at the Landsraad. Then again I may not. There's a lot to change. But we have by no means completed anything as a micronation, just as Bill says. At least, I don't think so.
