Quote:I've never heard of themDuly notedQuote:but they strike me as being exactly like every other metal band in the worldActually, they are quite different, but for very particular reasonsQuote:especially cuz of the way you're describing them as "the best band in the world"False, I have never described them as such. You should refrain from falsely attributing quotes to people. What I have said is that they are true. This ascribed trueness is, to put it in the simplest terms possible, true. What is metal? It is a category of minerals including iron. What can be made with iron when it is refined? Steel of course. And what has steel historically been made into? Swords, axes... In short, weapons - many of which were wielded by vikings in that glorious age. And nothing is more awesome than vikings. Thus, what could be more true than a metal band that sings about steel and vikings? The short answer is "nothing."In an age where it seems to be a requirement for music to be sullen and depressive to count, it is wonderful to know that there are still people who will go out and play songs that are simply catchy and fun. No bullshit, no pseudo-artsy posturing, just straight up, balls out heavy metal that doesn't need to be taken so seriously and doesn't make apologies for what it is. It is this attitude which makes them what they are.Btw. this reply of yoursQuote: Or on key, for that matter......Would entail that Eric Adams performs something that is physically impossble. However, although Eric Adams is a giant among men, he is still a man. Thus, as we objectively know that Eric Adams can only sing on key, we must naturally rule this out.Now cease your attempts to ruin my fun with your meanness. Otherwise, if I'm ever in Ireland I will have to bring along a brass band and a bottle of sljivovica - force you to drink it and then make you dance to the music.Zivjeli! It'd help if you stopped parading them around. They call it a signature, but no one ever signs their posts...

Re: re:greetings
And I posted all of twice stuff about the band in a thread which is entirely goofing around that wasn't just responding to other people's posts. About ten posts in the whole of Shireroth's forums that have anything to do with them at all from me. I do respect Manowar, that shines through in the posts and it should. However, almost all of those posts that include it, are written with tongue firmly planted in cheek. My humor is absurdist and though the band make me feel wonderful, nonetheless they are absurd (which is much of the reason they appeal to me, probably). If you don't get it, I can't help you - but you can choose to ignore it because your typical sarcastic responses sit with me no better. SF-SNEdited by: Stjepan Veliki at: 11/3/05 23:12

Re: re:greetings
Actually listening to them is less important. What is hilarious is the attitude they convey; on one hand its really cheesy. Manowar basically invented modern metal cliches. On the other hand, with the appropriate suspension of belief they can actually be pretty inspiring. Very assertive sort of "We can - We will" type of lyrics.Actually being able to listen and enjoy them is something that comes in time for people who listen to metal, as the general pattern seems to be that once you stop having to take your music and by extension yourself so seriously, you suddenly realize that singing about "Brothers of Metal" with a bunch of friends while drinking together is awesome. I'm confused, so I refuse to post in this thread. There are no flowers, no not this time. There will be no angels gracing the lines, just these stark words I find.

Eoin, I think Victoria should become Countess of Cimmeria.Cimmeria's traditionally been ruled by a Countess (it was Aurefiction's old fiefdom) and is right next to your and my counties, which means we can easily make a Barony of the Northern Islands or something. Since I don't want to lead it, and since you're too busy, we can even make her Baroness and force her to start participating in stuff the hard way. Also, I just read a really interesting article last night giving evidence that the historical Cimmerians were the ancestors of the Celts of Britain and Ireland, so it would only be fitting to have them led by an Irishwoman.

Oooh, she'll like that...well probably. You're into the whole strong Celtic women thing, right, my Kaiseress? And not the fake "LookatmeI'msoWiccan" thing, the actual kind.Map's here, by the way.
Re: Greetings
Cimmeria is attributed to being a Hellenic combination of the local names for the northern shores of the Pontus Euxinus (Black Sea), which was in ancient times referred to as Sarmatia and Crimea (Krim). Hence, combined, you come up with the Cimmerians (Crimeans).Of course, the Shirerithian Cimmeria has nothing to do with the real Cimmeria. It's rather heavily plagarised from the Conan the Barbarian 1970's comic book collection I have and Norse folklore. Useless art is simply tolerated vandalism. I am a vandal.

Re: Greetings
First of all, from what I have heard the name Crimea comes from the Turkish word qyrmyr meaning "fortress" and dates back only to medieval times. The origin of the name Cimmeria itself is shrouded in mystery. But I was referring not to the origins of the Cimmerians but to the possibility that they migrated into Western Europe back in the early first millennium BC and combined with proto-Celtic cultures there to become the Celts. This is the legend told by some Celtic peoples, at least and the Welsh word for Welsh is "Cymry", which they claim derives from "Cimmerian".

Somewhere in Eastern Europe people are willing to kill each other things like that.*Imagines long and savage war between the Qyrmyr and Krim as to the origins of the Crimea...Imagines selling guns to both sides*

Don't you tell me what I'll like. Who says I don't like being useless, annoying and arguementative? I could be a steadfast oppositionist. I'm intrigued, but the main problem is I have no idea what I'm being offered, and reading the replies is no help. Isn't crimea where florence nightingale was a nurse? You guys are so messed up, you'd swaer you were running real countries or something.

Florence worked in a hospital at Scutari in Turkey for the duration of the Crimean War.As for Quote:You guys are so messed up, you'd swaer you were running real countries or something. Are you trying to say we don't? Bill sort her out.
Re: Greetings
Hey, instead of looking at whether Shireroth and Babkha are real nation...look at what similarities they share with real nations. I can assure you, micro-nations are more like real nations than you could ever imagine. If it weren't that way, they wouldn't be so addictive. Shirerothian PatriotPrince of Byzantia
