I have been watching it from afar over the last couple years and it all seems pretty much to come down to a personality conflict. Delphi vs everyone else. This is the opinion of an uninformed observer only, the whole thing can obviously be split into a whole host of faults, problems and whodunits, but I think its just personality at the end of the day.August Charles II

Curious about Antica

Post by Bill3000 »

As you know, I havn't been paying attention to intermicronational politics for a long time. Frankly, I have my head up my arse when it comes to paying attention to other nations. I know that Antica has had a lot of problems, but I would like to know how the conflict came into being. Unfortuantly, this thread will probably attract the arguments, which I don't want. Scott - you made a really nice unbiased history of Menelmacar. Is it possible that you could do the same here? I'd pay you , but unfortuanatly, I don't think I have any. Still, I wish I had a detailed, semi-neutral explanation of how the current incident came into being. All I can see are mirrors to Menelmacar, but that's only with the fact that there are faction clashes and bitter battles between people.Yeah, I probably shouldn't have started this thread. :/ Once again, I just want to know how this tragedy began - And personally, I do think it is a tragedy for a nation as nifty as Antica to have to go through something like this at all. Antica, as it was origionally concieved, was a brilliant idea. Basically bringing back Roman Consuls. Unfortunately, there was a perceptible difference in the ammount of power wielded by Delphi and Chris. Delphi assumed more power, and still does, and therefore became the dominant Dinarch and began a dictatorial rule. So, in retaliation, we seperated and formed our own Republic, with everyone equal. ________________It is a damn poor mind indeed which can't think of at least two ways to spell any word.-Andrew Jackson

That's not exactly unbiased. I didn't begin any such thing as a dictatorial rule. Leave it to someone who is actually fair.

Well, Delphi, it might not be exactly unbiased, but it's my view of the situation. And that's the way myself and MOST of the old Anticans feel about it. ________________It is a damn poor mind indeed which can't think of at least two ways to spell any word.-Andrew Jackson

Bill, unfortunately there's no way I can write a history of Antica any time soon, even though I was unwise enough to tell Delphi I'd be able to do so a long time ago. Work, plus I've already got a few micronational projects on the backburner I would want to finish before starting that. But if you have any particular questions, I, or the Anticans, would be glad to answer them.Basically the revolt comes from the same things that happened (or almost happened) here a few years ago. Like the Kaiser, the power of the Dinarchs was pretty absolute, and a lot of people didn't like that. And like Erik, Delphi got people upset by using that power frequently and by being the major authority figure who created the nation, and like Erik, managed to upset a lot of people. Eventually, it spiralled out of control and we get Foghorn and his friends leaving to form a republic. Edited by: Kaiser Los III at: 9/13/05 18:58

There is a different between legal use and "abuse" and "dictatorial" action, as you dubbed it.

My lords, this post should be the last piece of bickering I will involve my self in... for the time being. So, it was a lie that we left because we saw you using your power to achieve your own ends, eh? You said so in your own speech:Quote:The very fact that I am this relic of Antica's past, the premier supporter of Dinarchialism as it should be, the fact that I've stuck to my guns at most junctures and used my powers to reach the ends I saw fit for Antica, these are the reasons I am so despised among those who abandoned Antica for a new venture. And so I'm lying when I said that we left because you wouldn't deviate from those ends?M'lord, this ends my bickering with Delphi Augustus. ________________It is a damn poor mind indeed which can't think of at least two ways to spell any word.-Andrew Jackson Edited by: Nick Foghorn Leghorn  at: 9/13/05 19:51

Can you two exist without fighting? Delphi makes speeches slandering the entire the Republic, and the Republic uses some slack-ass excuse to try and take the majority of the Dinarchy's land. Delphi uses his powers as administrator of the Antican board, and the Republicans propose acts in their legislature to be perpetually at war with the Dinarchy until it's destroyed. Both sides should be ashamed for being petty asswipes. They call it a signature, but no one ever signs their posts...

Anymore bickering on the Shirerothian forums between Anticans will result in this thread being closed, or worse. Thank you and have a good day. There are no flowers, no not this time. There will be no angels gracing the lines, just these stark words I find.

We only took Nafticon, and I personally am against us taking more. *glares at Foghorn* No... you can't have it.
