DRA and Baronies

Post by Kaiser Los III »

I'm talking to Iain right now and he's saying that he doesn't think the DRA officially dissolved the old Baronies, and thus that his former Barony of Lothlaria still exists. I'm saying that it definitely did dissolve the old Baronies, the evidence being that the old Baronies are distinctly gone, but without a copy of the act it's just my memory against his, and betting against Iain's memory is usually a bad idea. Does anyone else have clear memories about this subject?

The DRA abolished all forms of subdivisions and remade the main three, and gave the new Dukes the right to reform their baronies if they wished. I remember Malarbor commenting on the beginning of the Barony reformations. They call it a signature, but no one ever signs their posts...

According to the View from Benacia:Quote:After the passing of the Duchy Reorganization Act, dissolving the old Duchies and replacing them with the new ones, MiniInt Gryphon took it upon himself to archive all the old subdivision forums and create new ones. Although not an act utterly unsuited to the situation, there was widespread protest at the suddenness of the forums' disappearance and the lack of consultation with the people or the Kaiser (who was on LOA at the time); indeed, there were no new Dukes to head the new forums.Upon being petitioned by various citizens to remedy the situation, Steward Shyriath issued a reprimand to the MiniInt for his hasty decision, and noted that the Duchies should get to choose whether or not to keep their old forums... an opinion apparently shared by the Kaiser, who upon his return incorporated it in his Decree.Nothing in that report about anything being dissolved other than the old Duchies. Stuff, more stuff, and yet further stuff...

You have to realize, however, that Baronies are subdivisons of the Duchies. When their parent Duchy was dissolved, they were dissolved too, as a barony cannot exist outside of a Duchy. They call it a signature, but no one ever signs their posts...

I already had this argument with Iain, because he's now a citizen of my barony (though he's NEVER AROUND). I decided that his arguments were absurd, but I then dissolved Lothlaria ANYWAY.Even if the DRA left it in existence, he's conveniently forgetting that I demoted Lothlaria to a county. If he has any problem with that, he needs to show up more often. *throws grenade for the hell of it*BO0O0O0O0/\/\!!!!!!

Has anyone yet reminded Iain of my earlier decision to dissolve his barony? That more than trumps the rest of this debate. *throws grenade for the hell of it*BO0O0O0O0/\/\!!!!!!
