New forum design

I have been getting more and more comments both from foreigners and from potential recruits that they hate our forum design. And it is hard to blame them. The last straw for me was Renee saying she recruited someone but they decided to go to a different micronation instead because they couldn't read our forums (the second to last straw was my parents feigning gagging motions whenever they see Shireroth's forums up on the computer).If we can come up with a theme that is cleaner, neater, and more readable, but manages to preserve traditional Shireroth themes like Malarbor, dark blue and dark red, and the moose and mangos, would you support a pretty comprehensive forum redesign?I am a Shirerithian - I support forum redesignI am a Shirerithian - I want the forum to stay the sameI am a foreigner - I support forum redesignI am a foreigner - I want the forum to stay the sameFnordShow results

Two other ideas if I may, too many banners up the top are bad, and why not have the intro to Shireroth page on the wiki, so that it can be a product of the opinions of all citizens on the subject? (self definition is extremely important for any micronation...) Emyr Ciaron BroeckKing of Breuddwyd

Didn't we have a semi war over this?having said that, I seem to remember being able to use CSS on ezboard,so we could have it so that those who want to use the current can while the new one still shows

Hey, that's actually a pretty cool idea, David, if what you mean by that is that we could have color profiles for the forums.I should clarify my vote as well:I want some of the colors to change (IE Dark red needs to change to a different red, one I can see.), but I want the general overall look (red on blue) to remain the same. For me, the forum seems to be a sprawling, semi-anarchic mess. What's needed is somebody to clean the forum up to make a it a bit more neat and tidy, not to mention a bit more easy to access.It seems to be forum redesign season, since certain Treithak have suggested that we give our forum an overhaul. The problem with regards to "Sprawling and Anarchic Mess" is that there are way too many forums here than I think are necessary, and they're not ranked in any particular manner, so for example SNARL and Jaris are towards the bottom, even though they've got lots of activity. If you're interested in preserving unused forums then phpBB can convert ezB forums to phpBB format. You could then archive the old forums on a separate site.Personally, I like the dark blue, but it does provide text problems. You might want something a bit softer on the eyes, like the old Atteran ezBoard forum before Diga changed it to that ghastly Black, Red and White theme. I've never had a problem with the forums personally, but if we're losing potential citizens over the issue, then surely some changes should be made.Still, I would argue for a minimalist approach if at all possible. Make what improvements are necessary to address complaints and no more.

I actually like the fora as they are now, but since we have definitely lost at least one citizen to the color scheme, it needs to change. *throws grenade for the hell of it*BO0O0O0O0/\/\!!!!!!
