After discussion with the Duchess of Kildare, two things have been determined, to wit:1) That the Duchess of Kildare has never been to New York, a situation which we her countrymen can hardly allow to continue, and2) That if we go to New York, we can pester the United Nations to grant us membership.

Anticans... mmm... let me know what's going on and when you plan to do this, if I can steal away for a weekend from DC perhaps I can come back up, tell my parents I'm visiting *snickers*. If you had it in DC... well that'd kick-ass for me, but this is a ShireCon, not a LetsSeeDelphiCon.

When do you go down to DC? Both Gryphon and I start college early, so if you start it late an extra trip up might not be necessary.

I move down August 27th. End work here August 19th. So I've got a week to pack/mess around (more the former but I'll have time for the latter).

I will be moving into my dorm the 17th or 18th of September, so that weekend is out. After that, I will definitely be busy the weekend of October 21st-23rd, as I will be turning 21 on the 20th, and I plan to get drunk with my best friend.Just about any other weekend works for me, as long as I know ahead of time. I can probably miss one day of class, either a Friday or Monday, but absolutely not both.My only other real comment is that I really want to get pictures of us picketing the UN for recgnition. That would be great. *throws grenade for the hell of it*BO0O0O0O0/\/\!!!!!!

East Coast ShireCon

Post by Kaiser Los III »

There seems to have been some demand for it. We need a time and a location.Gryphon will be in the East starting August 19; I will be there starting August 27. Renee says she might be willing to fly east in September or early October, so if we can find a date during that time period that works for everyone, so much the better.School is going to be an issue with timing. I can take maybe one or two days off, but any more and they'll sic the dogs on me. It HAS to be over a weekend, but it would be great if I could also make it over a break. Do any of the rest of you have a break October 14-19? If not, what do you think about Thanksgiving...obviously not the day, but the rest of the long weekend? As for place...if we hold it New York City, then not only do we get the advantage of being in New York City but we could go out on a field trip one day and say hi to the Anticans, who live a few minutes outside of there. We could also go off to where Bill lives and find him without his parents being any the wiser. Problem is that I don't think any of us live in New York City; we'd have to go to a hostel. DC might be an option if Shy and Rakesh could host us there. My college is right out, because, although I could fit maybe one other person in my dorm, there's nowhere else for anyone to go - Clinton, New York is not big on hotels. So, what I need to know is:Who might come?Who can host if we come to you? What locations are convenient/impossible for everyone? What times are convenient/impossible for everyone?

DC sounds great, but if I need to take a bus to NYC it won't be bad either. I am free almost pretty much any time, as long as you give me some head's up. In terms of accomodations, with Delphi, Shy and me here - we probably could handle almost all of you I would guess.

I absolutely loathe DC, so if it's held there, I shall wave complacently from bonny old New England. If it's held in NYC, then I might be able to come. I've driven through it a few times before, but have never visited the city.I would've preferred a more northely locale (I despise the heat) but meh, so it goes. Having a girlfriend now also means I dunno what will be going on whenever this is held. We're planning some weekend trips this fall, but no set times, so who knows. With such a busy schedule, i'll have to play it all by ear. Useless art is simply tolerated vandalism. I am a vandal.

Hmmmm. Hmm hmmm hmmmmm.DC would be preferable for me, distance-wise, but I imagine there's no particular reason I couldn't come to NYC if that turns out to be the preference. I do kinda like the UN recognition scheme, although I only hope that in the current security climate it doesn't cause them to try to arrest any of us. The problem with determining when I'll be available is that I'm currently unemployed but vigorously looking, so that at any time within the next few months I might suddenly GET employed and have my freedom of time dried up. As of now, I can do it just about anytime, but that may change on very short notice. As for putting people up for a DC trip, that's a bit uncertain for me. I still live with my family, so I have to talk with them about it, and they'll want to know how many people and how long and all that sort of stuff. I could probably convince them to take two, or maybe three people, but I can't promise anything at this point.

Well in order to get to Washington, internationally, you have two choices when it comes to airports: 1) Washington Dulles (IAD) - its in Northern Virginia 2) Baltimore-Washington (BWI) - just outside Baltimore I could probably pick you up from either of those places. Of course, from personal experience, the cheapest fares will probably come via some other US airport and then you can connect to Reagan National (DCA), which is right in DC.

I'm interested if y'all will have this old Atteran. I'll be back in Philly on 24 August, and will be free for every weekend in September except possibly Labor Day. New York is closer to me distance wise, but I've been on an early American history kick lately and DC would be fun. Either way, I'll try to come.Imperial Ras Charles. Are you still spying on us for Attera? If so, I'm afraid we're not going to give you any information; if not, we'd love to have you.

Oh, that's okay. We knew from the beginning, but we thought "Ah, it's Ras Charles, it'll be nice to have him around even if he is a spy, might as well let him in". You'll probably be in Kildare now, as Hyperborea was merged into there during the Duchy reorg, but you're welcome to switch Duchies if you find one you like better. If you're still interested in working foreign affairs, talk to Eoin.
