Of course it's part of the EU, but its bureaucracy is worse than the EU requires. That makes me bitter. All these stupid middlemen everywhere. Richard LyonYansha Elaer Kyon gef ShanPernem kahn gef kuymal per varga stiPernem kahn gef varga per kuymal sti

Re: DIE UK!
Why the sudden mocking of my profession old chap?Edit: I would have tried to avoid the "what's wrong, Ric?" trap but bureaucracy is a gift of the gods and I will not suffer any man to think ill of it. Edited by: Osman Shahanshah at: 7/29/05 9:32

Not just you one assumes? Otherwise if you have 100k to throw around perhaps send some charity my way, the drinks bill is frightfully expensive.

Re: DIE UK!
700,000!?!?!Holy crap! For that much money, here in Charlotte you could buy 40 acres of land, build a literal three story house, and STILL have enough money to buy 20 more acres and buy a hot car!
Re: DIE UK!
Houses in the UK are expensive... they cost twice as much as houses in Sweden, and in Sweden you get good standard and bigger size and bigger land.An average four bedroom home in Sweden, fairly new built, would be around 1 400 000 crowns. That is sort of 100 000 pounds or 150 000 euro. Richard LyonYansha Elaer Kyon gef ShanPernem kahn gef kuymal per varga stiPernem kahn gef varga per kuymal sti

£100,000 is probably a deposit.House prices here are just depressing. I'm not living anywhere near an urban centre until my later years, that's for sure.. Wil Nider to the HyperboreansEoin to the restZirandorthel to the ages

Re: DIE UK!
Aren't the only places where you can get 60 acres of relatively open land around here already pasture land, because you can't quite build houses on the slopes of the steeper hills? Even then, the land is outside the inner part of the Bay Area (ie, next to the bay itself). The other mostly open land is farm land in the flatter parts of the places that aren't yet fully developed, like near Gilroy, or the forested parts which are already about as developed as you can get without clear cutting.Again, though, with the fast development. *throws grenade for the hell of it*BO0O0O0O0/\/\!!!!!!

Re: DIE UK!
Except you live in North Carolina. Sorry, the south is not my gig.Yeah, the only open land here is in the hills (steep and combustable during the summer), and right next to the bay (which is all landfill, actually, or wetlands that we should keep around). If there is any open land here, it's incredibly expensive. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

If only I had the cash, I'd buy back Gramps' old ranch. 3000 acres in Choctaw County, Oklahoma. Anyone have $2-$5 million lying around? It'll be fun. We'll grow alfalfa and run buffalo. Good hay and good meat :b
