Attacks on London
2 weeks after the June 7 bombings on the London Underground and on a double-decker bus, more incidents have occurred on other lines and on another bus. Early reports mention few casualties, that one bomb perhaps did not detonate, and that one person was seen running away.

Re: Attacks on London
Persistent little buggers aren't they? Suicide bombers who couldn't even manage to kill themselves... how pathetic is that?

Re: Attacks on London
Bin Laden probably has little to nothing to do with the situation. And I don't think that God would be too happy about either situation. At least the Brits aren't running around like Chickens with their heads cut off about this. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

Yes, America is such a great country. We're so damn great, aren't we? They call it a signature, but no one ever signs their posts...

Re: Attacks on London
Now that I've been set off...Since more people die in Iraq every day from terrorism then died in the London bombings this month, I would say that America is not doing a very "kick-ass" job. Also, as far as I can tell, the American reaction has been more extreme than Britain's. We start worrying when something blows up. People start babbling about 11 September. Suddenly there is a terrible threat. We're all going to die! When the Brits start strapping Union Jacks to 6-wheeled trucks and driving around listening to bad country music in the streets, I will start feeling better about my own country. Either that, or I'll start worrying about them like I do us. Or I'll start laughing.Still, despite the violence that has appeared in London, the general feelings of those in England has been, from what I've heard, "let's get on with our lives." And I admire that, because the American government won't let us get on with ours after 11 September.People here (espcially those who support the war) say that we must protect our freedom at all cost because freedom is what makes America the best country in the world. If we have to give up freedom to keep it, that's fine with them. But that's not really freedom. Being free within certain limits is not freedom. As it turns out, most European nations have more liberties available to their citizens. But we're kicking terrorist ass in Iraq. Excuse me for getting out of line. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

I'd close this thread as per my usual, "We don't discuss politics here in SHIREROTH" bent, but the fact is that if I did we'd have NO activity.
