London Bombing Attacks, July 7, 2005

Post by hypatias mom »

We were saddened and outraged when we woke up on Thursday morning to the news of the savage Al Qaida bombings that occurred on the Underground and to a red, double-decker bus during the morning commute. Numbers are still coming in but, mercifully, they seem lighter than expected. Our hearts and prayers go out to the people of London, and to all in the UK.

Unfortunately hanging the dogs isn't an option under English law, but hopefully once they are caught they may fall prey to all manner of accidents whilst detained at her Majesties pleasure.

I think the brainwashed souls who did this could end up in eternal imprisonment with jewish, female wardens. And in Israel of course But on the other hand. They were brainwashed, the poor souls. So they need reeducation and mental help. Like the ones they give you after you leave the Moonies. But why do them the kindness of re-education? We should adopt a policy of pre-emptive martyrdom towards such folk

I would certainly like to see what would happen to you if you were to parade with a decapitated mujahideen and a pigs head through Pakistan, I'd even love to hear their response when they find out you think they are Arabs... be warned it may involve sharp knives and your genitals. No, I may want to flush the Islamist/jihadi movement out of Europe but I won't go as far as some Israelis who advocate sowing up the corpses of suicide bombers in pig skins. Death is sufficient, the rest is tasteless melodrama.

Make them eat Koran pages. That'll do it. [22:19] Bill7D0: hahaha. Another broken worthless family. You really are worthless.[22:20] Bill7D0: Really, it figures. Parents were piss poor and thus you are piss poor.[22:28] Bill7D0: So, I'm emmigrating Shireroth, and this time, something's not my fault. It's your fault. And you can blame yourself for being a constant ***.

Somehow I question the effectiveness of making them martyrs or putting them to shame. The thing is terrorists are like Hydra. If you cut a head, one (or two) will grow back. No, what has to be done is to eliminate the reasons why anyone would ever want to become a terrorist. It's not easy but it's the only way.

retaliation wont work, methinks. We need to remember the lesson of the Roman Empire. They were bigger and stronger, but they had many enemies who were tenacious. I agree with the Great Satan....Does that make me a lesser satan?

I have a distinct memory of walking out of Aldgate Station. It's very creepy. I feel bad for the British people. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

Graaaaah. I can understand being angry at America and its allies, but blowing up people and landscape is only going to keep the conflicts going. Many condolances to the people of Britiain, and especially London, and if the perpetrators are still on the run, may they be swiftly caught and punished in a suitably vengeful manner.

Well exactly. They want to keep the conflict going. That way more people hate America and its allies and join them.

True, but America really needs to reevaluate it's foreign policy too. It is the reason that the terrorists attack us. 3e knowe ek that in fourme of speche is chaunge / With-inne a thousand 3eer, and wordes tho / That hadden pris now wonder nyce and straunge / Us thenketh hem, and 3et thei spake hem so, / And spedde as wel in loue as men now do...

Its a risk benefit ratio, is the risk of terrorism greater than the benefit of backing Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia etc etc?

Coupled with the fact they want to kill you because you exist nevermind what you actually do, you might as well carry on as you are if America extracts some political or financial benefit from its engagement with the Middle Eastern states.Returning to the issue of Islamist terrorism in Europe, the problem is not the presence of a large Muslim minority in Europe (if that were a problem, the only solution would be genocide, so lets be civilised and not consider it a problem lest the solution make us barbarians) but the presence of radicalised imams. These individuals, often arrived from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and other locales which have not got a grip of Salafi extremism, expressing the violent jihadi rhetoric that makes them vicitms of, probably deserved, persecution at home, thus curtailing the ability of Western governments to lawfully expel these individuals. Accordingly the extremists are free to find an audience.Unfortunately this audience is very easy to find among young and educated Muslims. There appears to be a strain of persistent alienation among young muslim men in Western Europe which leaves them vulnerable to recruitment to various jihadi causes in Palestine, Iraq, Chechenya and other god forsaken places as well as making them susceptable to paranoid conspiracy theories, for instance that 9/11 was a Zionist plot, that the hijaked airlines were remote controlled by the US military, that Jewish workers were evacuated from the WTC before the attack, etc, etc. The upshot is that the radical imams seize upon the dissolussion and disbelief young alienated muslims feel towards Western governments, culture and media to forge instead a parrallel reality where the jihadi is fighting Allah's war to overturn a pagan universe. As my college the Mufti of Kamalshahr has pointed out elsewhere, the beliefs and practices of the radical Islamists are a world away from the Islam of the Sharia and Koran, indeed the suicide bomber motive of the nominally Sunni jihadis bears an ominous resemblance to the doomed fanaticism of the infamous Ismaili Assassin sect - the only consolation to us is the complete failure of the adherents of Hassan-i-Sabbah to overturn civlisation and place the 'Hidden Imam' upon the Caliphal throne. However, even though Al-Qaeda and its fellow travellers will fail in their endeavors to trigger an apocalypse there will be much avoidable bloodshed in the meantime. The only way to address this is to drain the swamp of islamism and rescue the naive Muslims trapped in the mire. The only way to do this is not by addressing the so-called issues that Al-Qaeda puts forward as a reason for its so called jihad. Whether Israel becomes Palestine or the House of Saud gets thrown out of Arabia, or even the Americans pack their bags and get out of Iraq (and everywhere else for that matter) the Islamists will find another pretext for savage aggression. Ultimately the terrorist worldview calls for a global Caliphate, an ambition so unrealistic that it will always provide the pretext for future slaughters. Instead the governments of the world need to clamp down on the teaching of Islamist dogma, to force the closure of radical madrassahs and arrange the arrest of extremist clerics - once the air is cleared of their poison perhaps we can start to force an acceptance of reality upon their pupils. At least initially, arresting clerics and forcing acceptance of reality on people is going to cause quite a bit of resentment among those who might be sympathetic to radical views, yet currently inactive. No one likes being told point-blank to change their views, and still less so radicals; so if such tactics are used against them, one should be prepared for a possible upsurge in violence. Not that this means it shouldn't be done (I imagine it'll have to be, sooner or later), but it's worthwhile to note that it may come with some risks.

Demographically the radicals are a minority in a minority that for the large part rejects them, there is no way they could win if forced into an open fight. Terrorism, as the experience with the IRA has shown, can be endured and ultimately stalemated.
