Life, Death, and Email....

Yerp. The Secrets of the universe all revealed for you.... not really.It's been a month since I retired.. maybe 2... So, thought I might check it. See what's going on. Cover a few topics, give an update as to how my life is going...1. Email. I fixed the problem with the Shireroth.org emails. BUT!I delete EVERYTHING in the image.shireroth.org/temp folder.. it's gone. I have it backed up. But it's a temp folder. and if you put something in it expect it to be deleted within the week, unexpectedly. This freed up space, and I cleaned out some stuff here and there... so alot of space was cleared. but than I called them and now we have 2gigs..... Yay us.If you have an email and wish to keep it. Someone start a thread for it. and people post their email name erik, kaiser, moma, shasta..etc. If I don't see your emails name in the list by the end of the week, the email will be removed. End of story. I can't afford to have my email going down because we run out of space. or something. Also, if you have big files stored as attachments either in your inbox or sent folder, delete them... 2. the Website. I meantioned how I cleaned out the temp folder... and how we now have 2gigs. I'm not sure if that's supposed to be true. So don't count on it. ok. Not much more to say there. OH. Though it is still like.. 9 months away. when renewal comes up. I refuse to pay for half the site like I've been doing. So. If I don't get at least 2/3rd of the money needed to pay for the site by a month before it's up for renewal. there will be no site. Got it? I'm tired of paying for half the site....I can't afford it. Same goes for Gold for the forums. 3. The forums. Ezboard got really fucked.. and so did we. If you wish to switch. Let me know, and show me what needs to be done so I can set it up. But I refuse to pay for more than 1/3rd of the cost. Got it? I'm tired of being financially taken advantage by you guys. I put up with it for to fucking long. I love ya all, but money is money. and I can't piss it away.4. My life.Well. I've been keeping busy. accually.. lifes mean a bitch. As some of you may now things with Alex and I completely collapsed. And I'm single now. For as much as I love her, I really hate her guts now. If you don't know the details already.. you don't need to. Just thought some people might be curious. Now you know. I'm am single. To quote James I'm having fun being a "Man's man, ladies man, man about town." I've recently made some new friends through sunday Game. Amber and Joe. but mostly just Amber. She's cool... though 7 years my elder... But that's not really a problem. I get along with people who are older than me really well. apparently, from what I've been told, I have the maturity of a 25 year old..and don't act like I'm just 21.I turn 21 in a month. Not that anyone cares. But it's kinda cool.I got a masquarde ball thing going on at game on sunday. it's gonna be cool. I got an outfit all worked out. and even made a mask. Half black feathers... like a raven.. the other half is red and orange feathers, like a fire... Raven and a Pheanix... Ravix?I've been under alot of mental stress in the last month.. and in the last week.. I've been almost not eating.. but I'm getting better... Though I still hate myself, and wish to die. but that's really nothing that new. And I won't go killing myself... I've made oaths, and honor dictates that I must keep those oaths...Have you ever fealt like you found the woman of your dreams, found your soulmate.. but at the wrong time? It's really annoying.. to meet a soul from another life.. but have bad timing... especially knowing this might be the last life time you have...I ever tell anyone about my theories on souls? I don't really believe them... but they are interesting.I have a theory that. what we call a souls, spirit, energy.. whatevr... all comes from the same place, and every living thing and to a point, even non-living thing has a soul. And goes from one life to another. lemme try again. With a metaphore...A Lake... The soul of the universe is a lake of soul. spirit..etc. Like water in a lake, all soul intermingles... untill... a single soul is created. That the souls we have are like buckets of water from that lake. Traveling. That when a soul is created it is like taking a bucket of water from the lake. And the water in the bucket keeps moving from one bucket to another. And those buckets are the bodies, and things our souls inhabit. No water is lost in the transfer. So, as a bodies dies, the water moves on to another bucket. Sometimes there is a delay, in our time frame. Now, also, consider that buckets travel together, souls travel together. That's why we think we know people from past lives sometimes, that why we get along, INSTANTLY with some people, or hate them instantly.. We've traveled with them for life times. Sometimes souls will seperate, never to meet agian. and sometimes souls will stay within a single biological family. to an extent. Now. consider another idea. We are the universe. Made manifest, in a quest to learn about itself. As our souls travel from life, to life, we learn, pick up skills, wisdom, information, personalities..etc. On the constant road of enlightenment/transcendence. once we have learned all we can. We die one last time. and our water it thrown back in the lake. and mingles with the lake. What we have learned spreads out... it thins, but the total knowledge of the universe expands. There is a problem though. As a soul goes through lifes, and picks up wisdom, and knowledge.. it becomes faded and worn. the Water gets a lil murky. So the older the soul, the more unstable it becomes in lives. Blessed Lunatics. Tattered souls put into shells that aren't strong enough to contain them. This only accually explains a small amount of lunatics.We still need to take into account biological, and enviornmental factors on a person. But... we does a family of artist, or thinkers.. breed an idiot? biologically fine. but an idiot? Perhaps a new soul? or a family of military breed a hippy? some of it is enviornmental.. yes.. alot.. but so often.. there is somethings we can't explain with nature or nurture... Perhaps they picked it up in another life? Why do some peopel have inate skills in things no one in there family has ever had skill in?But yes. Don't analize the metaphor to much people. But some might ask, is there infinite souls.. population goes up.. does that mean more soul. Well.. we need to take several things into account.. The lake is huge.. and abstract anyways.. we can't measure it with science.. (annoying.. I know....) And... we may be getting souls from other worlds... We aren't alone people. There's a galaxy of galaxies out there people... so we pick up souls from other worlds, and when we die out.. other worlds will pick up souls from here...But since souls seem to travel together we don't get alot of people claiming to be aliens in past lives... Also, get used to it people.. if any of this is true... you were one a man.. or woman... the opposite sex. This might explain homosexuality.. bisexuality and transgenered people. They got to used to being the opposite sex... Western society has our gender roles to finite, so not many would be OK with the idea of having been a woman in a past life. Where was I....I got distracted by the idea of someone stabbing me in the chest soon....anyhoo.I think that's all I got to say on that front. My foot fell asleep...Well. In case people wondered. I AM A CITIZEN STILL. I maintain my citizenship, as I stated. I'm on perminent LOA. if my citizenship is removed... I'll be rather angry... I considered returning.. but I don't plan to... I got things to do. Summer school soon. Getting on with my life. I'm working on Game. Legions of Aurora. When it is done, if it gets done, I'll make a windows distrobution for you all. James is helping me. but it has NOTHING to do with Shireroth. So Don't you go trying to say it does Scott.. I know you. It is an open source project on sourceforge.net So, yeah. Just checking in. Moving to another forum only makes us more vulnerable, as we don't have a huge network with thousands of boards backing us up. Also, considering how many posts we make over time, we'd run out of space and have to upgrade our hosting packadge, making things worse. EZBoard is the best choice. Hypatia's Mom: Yay! IOf we did move, then my new space that I share with a friend of mine should be able to acomodate it, and I can easily move posts overhowever, in general, security on EZBoard is easier to handle....the only thing lacking is ability to do independent backups, which EZBoard will soon do.

Our forum database at The Frontier is over 650mb. Even our webmaster, who has a cable line, has trouble backing it up. Now that's just the database. That's not all the script, images, and so forth.Now, by all standards, we're a small community of roleplayers (1200 members, about half of which are active) that is self-sustaining on our own server. You have to consider that Shireroth could easily fill up about half our database size. So that's about 325mb right there.Also, you fail to take into account several other factors which we've run into over the years;-CIA blacklisting (anything - regardless if it's a post denouncing Nazis - with racial remarks gets picked up by the CIA)-Server costs (it costs us nearly a grand yearly to run the site)-Taxes (independent servers are monitored and taxed unless incorporated as an NPO)-Legality (the server owner would be legally responsible for all content posted on the boards)And a plethora of other problems we've run into over the years.Now while i'm apt to say your webmaster skills may be good, you can't tell me that the security provided independently would be greater than what the pros are currently providing. In fact, I quite suspect it would be worse.That's not an insult, it's a fair warning. We jumped in without a clue and lost three servers over the years with all the information on them. EZBoard has handled this situation admirably, and has managed to keep data from five years ago fairly intact, all things considered. While it's not the best in the world, nothing is perfect, and it fits the needs of Shireroth quite to the tee. Useless art is simply tolerated vandalism. I am a vandal.

Finally, I got around to mailing that 40 bucks I promised. Now no one can say I take advantage! Mwahahaha!
