There's a difference. Stuff like this leads to the downfall of America. Soloralism and Tapfer doesn't. Michael Jackson cleared of abuse
Singer Michael Jackson has been found innocent on all 10 charges of child abuse at the end of his trial. The singer strenuously denied the charges of molesting a 13-year-old boy. There were cheers from his fans outside the court as the verdicts were read.He was also cleared of giving the child alcohol and conspiring to kidnap him and his family. The verdicts end a one-week wait for the jury's decision in Santa Maria, California. The star was accompanied from his Neverland ranch by family members including father Joe, mother Katherine and sisters LaToya and Janet.Jackson fans outside court before the verdictMichael Jackson fans gathered outside court for the verdictHis trial began in February and the jury retired on 3 June. More than 100 witnesses took the stand in the trial. They including Mr Jackson's accuser Gavin Arvizo and his mother Janet. The trial was sparked after British journalist Martin Bashir made a documentary in which Mr Jackson admitted sharing his bed with children.Past allegationsBashir gave evidence but refused to answer many of the questions put to him.Mr Jackson's former wife Debbie Rowe spoke in favour of the pop star, but called his entourage "opportunistic vultures".And actor Macaulay Culkin denied being abused by Mr Jackson when he was a child star. But Mr Jackson did not take the witness stand himself.Judge Rodney Melville, who presided over the trial, allowed past allegations against Mr Jackson to be aired in court. Original article

It's the 24 hour coverage of this pointless trial that is the problem, not the trial itself. When we get so fascinated in the life of celebrities instead of focusing on real issues that could concern us, then it's the decline of America. I'm alittle tired of people saying its the end of the world and/or America. They've been saying that since... forever actually. Mikey got cleared, he'll go back to his home and die a broken man; and the media vultures will move on.

Quote:I'm alittle tired of people saying its the end of the world and/or America. They've been saying that since... forever actually.Well, they're probably wrong about the world, which is probably big enough and complicated enough to keep on going through sheer inertia (at least for another five billion years). America I'm not so certain of.... after all, all countries collapse sooner or later, often completely against peoples' expectations. When Constantinople fell to the Ottomans, it took Europe largely by surprise; after all, it was the heir of Rome, a bastion of Christianity! How COULD it fall? Yet fall it did. Or the Soviet-dominated bloc during the Cold War? When that fell apart, with Communist regimes toppling left and right, the international community seems not to have seen it coming. It doesn't mean that America is going to collapse right now, or even particularly soon. But it can happen, and it most likely will happen someday. Witness that even though many (perhaps most?) Americans seem to be politically apathetic, those that are more involved seem less apt to compromise, more likely to polarize and denounce. A government with that kind of bitter atmosphere is far more likely to get into gridlock unless one of them is numerous enough to just squash the other. The recent scuffle over federal judge nominees in Congress only barely avoided turning into something ugly (or uglier), because a few moderates managed to sit down and broker a deal... and it seemed to me that they basically had to bypass their respective party leaderships to do it.That kind of polarization can tear apart a nation if left to fester too long.

Yet fall it did.The funny part was that they actually were shocked. All rather funny because already before Mehmed II ascended to the throne, the Byzantine "Empire" was already reduced to the city and the handful of towns in the Morea which weren't in the hands of the Venetians.Wait, we're talking about America's collapse still? Meh, screw that. Ottoman history pwns so much more than the hypothetical imminent collapse of the world's sole economic and military super power.El Muzaffer Daima! The Ever Victorious!
