Re: Archetype23 - My Apology
My friend (as I still consider you such), please, drop me an email at shasta(at)shireroth(dot)org . Or get me on AIM as FaxCelestis . It'd be good to talk to you again.Keep your chin up. And who would have thought that my fate, it would conjure this twist in the road on which I have wandered? Each vision and dream now completely dismembered, to give one's whole life and find nothing's remembered...And what good is a life that leaves nothing behind? Not a thought or a dream that might echo in time

Quote:Archie... or Adam, if you prefer... you likely don't remember me; I lurked without posting much of the time. But I watched events as closely as I could in those days, and I admit to having an unfavorable impression of you. I apologize for this, for what it's worth; your wish to set things right show you as more than I had thought you were.Welcome back. Adam please, Archie is not my name nor (god willing) will ever be my name again. (Read that story I posted heh.)And I understand people not having a favorable opinion of me. Especially if those associate or are around people who at that time wanted me strung by my bowels from their Elven Tree houses.I'm one of those personalities (even now) you either like me or you don't.. I don't usually invoke nuke warm reactions from people. It's a curse or blessing I have not decided.. as I make great friends, and great enemies.Either way I'm trying to be pleasant to everyone I meet these days. But I'm sure an enemy or two will pop up somewhere.. in fact one could be in the making as I type this. God Bless,Adam

Re: Archetype23 - My Apology
There is nothing rude in asking someone what denomination they associate with.. not sure what "OWT" means however.http://www.lds.org Generally speaking you have Catholics/Greek Orthodox, Protestant, and Restoration Churches. LDS are a restorationist Church, if you would like to discuss theology please send me an AIM. I love a good religious discussion. If you are a bigot (no way implying that you are one!) don't bother IMing me. A lot of people have misconceptions about what we believe, I'd be happy to answer any charges if they are sincere questions.I was raised in an LDS home but I never really a church goer.. I started investigating religion (again) towards the end of my micronational stint.Peace,AdamEdit: I typed reformation instead of Restoration. Edited by: ProdigalSon523 at: 6/7/05 16:26
Re: Don't feel to bad
Ethiopian would be somewhat Arian in that it holds that Christ's Divine and Human parts are separate. And unlike the gnostic church, it's still extant. Them and Ethiopic Judaism are very interesting. I didn't forget anyone.. I said "generally speaking". To give a general outline.. I didn't go into detail talking about Gnostic Christians, Rachibites, and so forth. I said the 3(4) major schools of thought so he could get an idea about what we believe. Peace,Adam Edited by: ProdigalSon523 at: 6/7/05 14:04

Psst, Adam--I think he was giving that information just because it was interesting (because it is), and Christian denominations had come up briefly as a subject. I doubt "not reading your posts" had anything to do with it at all. Don't forget that it's not fun to be so touchy about religion, as it is by far one of the most divisive topics in existence.By the way, I'm Presbyterian. *throws grenade for the hell of it*BO0O0O0O0/\/\!!!!!!

Sorry if I came across wrong I'm simply trying to stay on topic. And he didn't seem to be helping... as I am still unsure what discussing the ethiopian traditions have to do with this thread. I for one am very fascinated with the various religious traditions. My take on the reformation and others will be different of course being LDS. I used to run a religious forum a while back at my web-site http://www.jehovahnissi.net but due to life getting busy had to abandon that for a while. So please don't think I'm touchy when it comes to religion I love various religious opinions and information. I was simply trying to keep the thread on topic and I thought his follow up thread was him continueing going off topic.God blessAdam

Re: Archetype23 - My Apology
I think "on topic" is extremely relative in micronations. Plus, this thread is now over 40 posts, and very rarely do I see threads stay on topic nearly this long. From what I can tell, most of the people who would expect your apology and accept/deny it have posted, too, so there isn't much left to stay on topic at this point. That said, since I've only been around since last July and know nothing of Menelmacar firsthand, I'll stop posting in thsi thread. I have nothing "on topic" to say. *throws grenade for the hell of it*BO0O0O0O0/\/\!!!!!!

Them and Ethiopic Judaism are very interesting. I still fail to see your point. To be candid.. are you even reading my posts? I am not discussing all the 1,000 christian denominations man. Not Ethiopian traditions as that has no relevance to what I am talking about. That's the same reason I did not include Gnostics, Rachibites, Nestorians, Coptics and so forth. Do you understand? He asked me what denomination I belonged too. I told him LDS, and gave him an idea of what school of thought we fall into, that is Restorationist. If you want to discuss Ethiopian traditions.. for whatever reason create a new thread maybe? As I'm not finding the relevance to this topic.Edit: There are quite a few Gnostic sects alive and well today. (They would argue that LDS fall into this category too).Peace to you,Adam Edited by: ProdigalSon523 at: 6/7/05 16:25

Jehovah-Nissi is an Altar that Moses builds in the old testament. It translates too "The LORD is my Banner". That is why I chose that name for my web-site when I converted to Christianity for real (while I was leaving micronationalism). I am going to send you an AIM if you don't mind. I speak of God often, and I'm Presbyterian. God is not the exclusive "property" of any denomination. He is Father to all believers. His Son's sacrifice is for all who will receive Him. Edited by: hypatias mom at: 6/7/05 21:54

This thread is quickly going off topic.. but for the record I did try to keep it on topic heh. :-PQuote:I speak of God often, and I'm Presbyterian. God is not the exclusive "property" of any denomination.Nobody is saying otherwise. He was simply saying he hadn't heard a non-JW say the name Jehovah, as most Christian denominations do not even know such a name exists, because it is translated to LORD in english. Is that what you are commenting about?I'm not sure if I read that post right..? It came across as frustrated about something. Nobody here made any claims contrary to what you said. (Unless I missed a post?)Peace to you,Adam Edited by: ProdigalSon523 at: 6/8/05 0:04

Re: Don't feel to bad
Adam, the only reason I posted was because people seemed to be starting to claim that only "certain" groups, denominations, whatever, ever spoke of God. The LORD is not confined to any denomination. That is my only point. No group's claims on His Name are exlusive to them. All Christians share that basic perspective, and the denominations basically just provide different ways of seeing and worshipping Him. And, yes, other denominations use Jehovah, but not as the only Name by which we refer to the LORD. Edited by: hypatias mom at: 6/8/05 3:11

I don't think it's very polite to edit your post..after someone quoted and responded to your post.. I guess I'll edit mine too then so they make sense. Quote:Adam, the only reason I posted was because people seemed to be starting to claim that only "certain" groups, denominations, whatever, ever spoke of God.I don't think anyone was starting to claim that. I myself would never claim that.. I doubt any Christian in their right mind would make such an outrageous statement. But thanks for speaking up just in case deep down someone was going to say that.. I don't believe any christian would argue with your statement below: Quote:The LORD is not confined to any denomination. That is my only point. No group's claims on His Name are exlusive to them. All Christians share that basic perspective, and the denominations basically just provide different ways of seeing and worshipping Him. Only certain groups do speak of god. They're called the groups that speak of god. Groups that don't mention god aren't part of that certain selection of groups. Hypatia's Mom: Yay! I'm legal now.Moose: WE(Shireroth) HAVE NON-NOBLES?![21:11] Bill7D0: It's 9:11 PM. Do you know where your plane is?

Religion has never done anyone or anything any good. All it has done is schism the world and cause war.And that's all i've got to say about that. Useless art is simply tolerated vandalism. I am a vandal.

Warvoid care to back up that statement? Non-religious states have caused more deaths in wars then religious states. I have a book on that topic too, I let my brother borrow it when he's done I'll post the actual figures for you.
