Great job Erik - MiniTrade will be paying you very soon. Except the logfile isn't working at all - not listing transfers and not deleting.Everyone - I'm setting up your accounts and making up the password. If you want different passwords you'll have to let me know. Click on my login and send me a message.Austi Edited by: Austi Scot at: 4/6/04 3:52 am

Quote:And don't do what? It's just that I'm still not quite used to the concept of storing numbers as strings and using them as if there was nothing strange about that representation. Well, in Perl there isn't, but... well, consider this: When I first looked up the conversion syntax for the printf() in Perl, I happened, for some reason, to try to use %i (integer) format converter instead of %f (floating-point). I figured out soon enough that I couldn't get any numbers beyond the decimal point with that. However, I didn't understand it clearly and kept on trying the converter with %i in different ways because I was thinking in C - and in C, integer and floating-point variables (and, for that matter, strings) are different types, so it would not have made any sense to change the converter. So now, as if that wasn't bad enough, you tie my mind up by adding zeroes to a variable that I think of as floating-point (which does not contain any information on precision) and storing the value back into the variable itself! No, it's not bad programming. It's perfectly fine. It just breaks the minds of those who make wrong assumptions... Do you really believe Project Bluebook revealed EVERYTHING the Army Air Corps knew? Do you know what REALLY happened at Roswell, New Mexico in the late 1940s? Have you even heard about the Men in Black? Do you have any friends who have `missing days'? Do you sleep with your window unlocked?Be seeing you...

Don't worry Austi.. I know what the problem is. But I can't fix it till I get up to school on friday... It's nothing major. The transactions are logging... and being cleared.. it's just not reading the right file when it shows you. Holy Warrior of Nee

When changing password the button says Change Email – perhaps you use the same button for everything – I’ll start to watch for that – but if you do use the same button maybe in say something like, “Make changes”. Also, how many accounts can be listed on the window that comes up when transferring Erbs. Right now there are 33 bank accounts - I am going to establish a few more and if the bank is as successful as I hope there may be over 100 accounts.

If this list could be alaphbetical and show about 10 or so at a time - a list you could scroll through - that might work.

Ah, an Idea.Would it be possible to make the banking script inform you of where you received your last few transfers from, and why? Even better, could it possibly inform you of all transfers received between the last time you logged in and this time? Look at the new "Transfer History" feature... I'm kinda ahead of you already. As for the last logged on this... in.. THEORY.. I could do that.. but I'm lazy.. And don't really feel like scripting that into the program as I don't feel it is really that needed with the History feature in place.. maybe a later version... I'm kinda wanting to finish v2 so I can sell it to MiniTrade get more money.. and let people have all the new features.... Great - thanks... I don't want the bank to have people seeing the last few transactions - or any transactions. That is a function for the bank - in the form of bank statements. That is what the current log file is used to do. If people want information about recent account activity they should contact the bank. My real life bank charges me $4.00 for a reprint of a check I wrote. Please do not add a feature that allows people to bypass the banker. (sorry folks)Austi

Austi - the thing is, when you get a reprint of a check, it's because you've already either written or cashed the check, either way, you've already seen it. However, with the way the bank works right now, random people could transfer money to our account (write us checks) and we would never know it happened. The bank should display deposits at least once after the deposit was made just so we can know when we make money.
