Right.. The bank is operational. http://www.shireroth.org/cgi-bin/bank.cgiBut it needs testing.there are now 3 accounts on there. I want people to use them.. I want people to abuse them. I want people to move money.. check balance.. sign in... hit back.. fuck up in everyway they can think of... I want people to tell me if they gett error messages. What it says.. exactly!. and how they got it. Try to cheat the bank too. (please don't hack. I know somepeople can. but.. that'll just make to big a mess...) If you can find a way to exploit the bank.. tell me. This is important to the future of the bank. If we can't have a drop down menu with the users - how about a list of users showing up on the page - of course without their password showing up - sort of like a hard copy down the side.I'm concerned that people will attempt to transfer Erbs to someone and won't know the name of the account they want to transfer Erb to.Yes, saying Erb instead of funds would be nice.Will account names be case sensitive? Do account names need to be one word? - Can my personal account be Austi Scot - or just Austi?

um, confused as to how the economy works - well, it's not fully developed yet - some aspects are not even yet introduced ... but here is the phase it's in right now ..You earn ErbYou spend ErbIn more detail:You sign up to have an account -you either open a business or go to work for an existing businesss (which is better? - easier to work for someone else - more responsibilities to own a business, but you might make more Erb)The company you work for gets paid every so often - not a set schedule (on purpose), the company pays you a wage (the amount is between the employer/employee)MiniTrade determines taxes - (this in the process of being changed to a feudal tax system) - but you are notified if you have taxes to pay.You spend .. if you don't spend MiniTrade tells you to spend.We are in the process of getting a bank implemented as well.As MiniTrade, I have some other aspects of the economy that are being worked on or are to soon be worked on - but the economy isn't ready for the next step - right now, if you want to be a part of the economy, open an account and get a job for a company, then check your account thread.The Minister will let you know things as the economy develops.Other than that - ask me specific questions - I live in Kildare, please ask me there.Austi

Thinking about that transaction log:Could it be a file - that has each transaction appended to the end of the file?A line might read something like thiserik paid alex 100 Erb march 21, 2004nick paid erik 30 Erb march 23, 2004alex paid nick 98 erb march 29, 2004Then, as admin, I could reset the file back to no lines every so often so it doesn't get too big. Ayup... what Austi described is a simple and easy way to log transactions, and also the right way as far as I can see... just remember to read http://www.perldoc.com/perl5.6/p...flock.html for information on locking and http://www.perldoc.com/perl5.6/p.../open.html for information on opening files for appending.
