Neither do I. Remember, my child, without innocence, the cross is only iron, hope is only an illusion, and you're nothing but a name.

I've never heard of them. If that's true, it's not the answer I'm looking for.

Umm...I'm stuck. Rock isn't my strong point. Bring back more riddles like yesterday's. That was a good one.

I don't think this counts as a hint, but - you do not have to really know about rock to get this one. It is not a rock trivia question. It is a riddle, and a rather weird and tricky one. Think about it.

Fossils? So, if god is falliable, does that mean that this universe (or plane of existence, depending on your style of thought) could be nothing more than a metaphysical trashcan?Platypi point to this being true.

Stuff

Post by Scott Alexander »

That's a good guess, and it's in the right direction, but no, it doesn't fit all of the clues. Since it's noon here and no one's gotten it yet, let me give a BIG hint:Quote:None of the members ever performed with any of the other members. The performance at which the member of the group was murdered took place in Washington, D.C., in the mid 19th century.

Well, I'd guess it was those four Presidents you have, whose faces are carved in rock on Mount Rushmore. Don't ask me for the names, I think it's disgraceful y'all didn't guess.

Gah!

Post by SaiKar LumEth »

You are, of course, correct Eoin. The actual answer (the rock "group") is Rushmore itself, not the presidents.I can see Evil Tree's annoucement for tomorrow already... "Congratulations to Eoin, who solved yesterday's fairly difficult riddle. But an extra-special congratulations goes to Scott Siskind for ruining the riddle by giving out an easy clue, thus preventing any self-pride Eoin could have had by solving the difficult riddle himself! I love it when people do that sort of stuff. Fwa ha ha!"

Quote: A plane crashed, and every single person on board died. John and Mary, two people on that flight, both survived. How can this be?The riddle says that they were on the flight. But that was what I thought first too.Erik is correct in his answer.

Either would be correct. But depending on when the riddle was made.. Married might be more accurate.. Cause dating people aren't considered single anymore.. Erik Mortis BrookshireCommoner of Alexandretta

Today's riddle is long and tricky, but it's one of my all time favorites. With the recent tension between Shireroth and Treesia, a certain Shirerithian citizen living in the Treesian enclave of Ghal'e Shervanis fears for his life and hopes to escape into the neighboring Shirerithian territory of Cognito. Unfortunately, the border between the two lands is a river, and it is spanned only by a single bridge. That bridge is watched by a guardtower on the Treesian side, with a single guard in it. The Shirerithian hides and watches the guard for a while, and learns the following facts:* The guard's orders are to prevent anyone from crossing the river. If he sees someone try, he orders them to return to their own side - if they refuse to comply, he shoots them. He is an excellent marksman and never misses.* The guard spends most of his time reading a magazine rather than looking at the bridge. However, every three minutes, he glances up from his reading to make sure no one is trying to cross, and when he sees that is the case, starts reading again.* Unfortunately, it is a rather long bridge, and the Shirerithian knows he will not be able to run across in under five minutes.*There are no places to hide on the bridge, and the river is much too fast to swim across. What does the Shirerithian do?

Cross the bridge. When the guard asks the SHIRITHIAN to return to HIS OWN SIDE of the river, the SHIRITHIAN continues crossing to the SHIRITHIAN land of Cognito.EDIT: Either that, or he blows up the guard tower with the maad power of the B0O()/\/\!!! Yep, that wasn't terribly difficult... BTW, Scott, could you continue posting those riddles in this thread? I don't visit Shireroth every day anymore and it's sometimes a bit hard to follow this thread if the riddle itself isn't stored anywhere... Do you really believe Project Bluebook revealed EVERYTHING the Army Air Corps knew? Do you know what REALLY happened at Roswell, New Mexico in the late 1940s? Have you even heard about the Men in Black? Do you have any friends who have `missing days'? Do you sleep with your window unlocked?Be seeing you...

Haven't you missed out the crux of the answer? He crosses the bridge as far as he can go and then, just before the guard looks up, he turns round and pretends to be going the other way. Then the guard makes him turn around, and he carries on over the way he wants to go.
