Last night, as he slept, the Kaiser was attacked by revenge-crazed Malarbor cultists. Although he fought valiantly, he sustained grave injuries and was rushed to the Shirekeep Hospital. According to his doctors, just before dawn he regained consciousness, told them "I have spent my life seeking tranquility. This is merely the continuation of my efforts", and passed to the next life.
It falls to me, as the Kaiser's close friend and as the executor of his estate, to read his last will and testament. But first, a few words.
One of the late Kaiser's political role models was the Roman emperor Augustus. Augustus was the original "first among equals", a phrase the Kaiser degraded to "first among Ikols" in his old crest. Just before Augustus passed away, when asked about the achievements of his long reign, he said "I found Rome a city of brick, and I left it a city of marble".
This would form a fitting epitaph for the late Kaiser as well. His driving passion was improving Shireroth's image; it was to this end that he redrew the coat of arms, made shields for the great Noble Houses, resumed Imperial support for a national language, and of course renovated the architectural style of our nation's public places. So let it be said that he found Shirekeep a city of brick and left it one of marble; and if posterity smiles on him, let him be known as Ikol the Architect, for that reason.
The Kaiser's last will and testament is a short and cryptic document, which I reproduce in full below:
The Kaiser is Death. Long live the Kaiser.*tag*
Shyriath, you're it!
