Dropping out of the Economic Sim
I realized that I haven't made any money in this simulation basically ever. And you could argue maybe that I'm not doing the right things to make money, which may be true, but it's also likely that I'm going to keep going generally what I'm doing and never make any money anyway.
So I might as well give my money to people that want it.

Re: Dropping out of the Economic Sim
You might not want to do this. For one thing, you never having made any money is kinda inconsistent with you having 2850 money to give away. For another, you probably need money to pay taxes and stuff.

You start with 5000 erb.
As for taxes, screw 'em. That's basically what prompted this - all this talk about having to buy things around here or getting taxed. I'm not going to sit around and wait for my money to be drained away with no benefit to me whatsoever. What are you guys gunna do if I can't pay a tax? Throw me out of the country? If it comes to that then I have no regrets.
In any event, it's already done.

Harvey, you could have asked what would happen if you couldn't pay your taxes. Instead you chose to overreact.

Re: Dropping out of the Economic Sim
As long as I had money, I "could" pay my taxes.
But more to the point, I really hate micronational economics in general. I've campaigned against them for years. I've wrote essays about how they're evil. Maybe it's just because I never make any money and always lose it to random crap, I don't know, but it seems like kind of a shitty way to keep score and I don't want anything to do with it any longer.

Hey, if that is your motive for dropping out, I can only respect that. There is no law saying that you have to have a bank account. Just don't blame it on random quotes, non-policies and other crap.

Attempting to be constructive-
This would be a lot easier if there were a law specifically stating that the economic simulation is purely voluntary, and that there will be no penalty, disability or disadvantage for those who choose to opt out?
Better yet, if such a disclaimer were in the Charter? (looks in the directrion of Erik, ducks).

Re: Dropping out of the Economic Sim
I don't support a law saying that the economy is voluntary since I generally don't support that type of law. I think (and I am trying to act like it too) that laws should either prescribe a way for the Imperial Government to do a specific thing, or they should make things illegal. This could compare to the law making gambling legal. Why do we have that law, and in this case, why do we need to say that an activity that is in no way made mandatory in law is not mandatory?
As for penalty, disability or disadvantage, I might support such a law if it is well drafted. I don't think people should be punished for not being a part of the economy, but I also don't think we should have to limit the economic simulation to avoid placing those that are not in it at a disadvantage to those that are. For instance, if the law giving people the opportunity to buy noble titles passes, it could be argued that it puts people outside the economy at a disadvantage since they can't buy a noble title. I don't want that situation to arise.

If you were going to give it away, you could at least have donated in to your friendly NDoG, in case we ever needed to purchase more ancient Jasonian stuffHarvey Steffke wrote:I realized that I haven't made any money in this simulation basically ever. Wait, really? You start with 5000 erb.
That means a citizen who just joined could buy a Baron-level title for almost two years under the new Landsraad resolution (5000E/700E * 3 months). That seems much too easy.

Since when is the citizenship bounty 5000 Erb? I have never heard that. When I joined I got like 500 or something.

The 5000 currency was my share Nelaga's SCUE entry funds. Nelaga doesn't have an Imperial Treasury-type organization so they just divided up the starting funds among citizens of the country. Shireroth, of course, never gave me even the 500 erb.
